  1. Yes the upper frame Mount is still there, but it has a GM rear end in it, and instead of the shock mounts facing inward like they do on the factory rear end they face frontwards, so I either need to fabricate some new lower shock plates / mounts, or just do what I did for temporary, and then weld in across bar above the rear end and mount the shocks to that which is what I plan on doing
  2. yeah, I plan to Weld a cross brace across the frame above the shocks and then Mount the shocks to the cross brace, when I get back down home, where I can work in my garage
  3. here's how I mounted the upper part of my rear shocks, there's a plate on top and a plate underneath the floor with the floor sandwiched in between
  4. I did find one on Summit Racing for a 1961 Ford Galaxie, I wonder if it would work
  5. I can't find that part number anywhere on steering wheel adapters, any chance you want to sell that one
  6. just wondering if you had a chance to try out those adapters
  7. okay Finishing Touch added, now she's ready to cruise LOL
  8. not sure if this helps, I ran 15 in Dodge Caravan rims on the rear of my 51 Belvedere so I could put some wider tires on the car, tried to put them on the front but they were too deep of an offset and you couldn't turn the steering wheel with them on it , they were right up against the frame rail
  9. it's not actually a show, it's a cruise night, they have it every Saturday at The Chatterbox up in Augusta / Newton, this is the last year the owner sold the place and it's going to be turned into a Wawa
  10. made a little more progress today, sandblasted the sealed beam conversion bezels, painted them, got them all back together and in the car I got the tail lights back in and I put a set of hidden blinkers in the holes where the front bumper goes, I really want to Chrome the conversion bezels but there's a car show tomorrow and I want to see if I can make it
  11. I never even thought about that, I could just use my old steering wheel center, the plastic is all cracked and broken up anyway
  12. yeah I was wondering that myself, because if you go on Summit Racing Jegs or Speedway, no matter what year a body, B body, C body, pick up, or van you put in the same part number comes up for the steering wheel adapter, but I just don't know how far back they go if they were all the same, I was just going to buy one and see if it fit, but I figured I'd give it a shot and ask a few questions first
  13. While on the steering subject, have any of you used an aftermarket steering wheel on your old Mopars with manual steering, I want to put an aftermarket 3 spoke wheel on my car, I found one or two around 17-inches, but I'm wondering what I can use to mount the steering wheel, most of the adapters I find, are all for 60s and 70s Mopars, nothing for the older cars, I'm just wondering if one of the newer ones would work with our cars, or if I have to have one made at a machine shop or something
  14. OK cool, I thought they started in the 30s, I can't believe the rear tires fit inside the fenders, they're 305/60/15's, 13 inches wide
  15. all right wheels and tires on, I didn't put center caps on yet I can't decide what I'm going to do about that, I got a little bit of a surprise, apparently someone switched out the driver side front drum with a passenger side drum because their right hand threads on both sides
  16. I'm not sure if that poor little Flathead is even going to turn my new choice of rear wheels and tires
  17. well after struggling for a while to try and get the rear shocks mounted with a Chevy rear end I decided to fab my own upper mounts instead of trying to use the originals , it was easier than trying to make a set of bottom mounts, I just drilled holes through the floor got some four-wheel drive shock mounts, made some 4 inch steel plates for above and below the floor to stiffen it up, and mounted them that way
  18. I sent you a private message with my address and stuff, thanks
  19. Cool, does that mean I can get my shifter soon too just just kidding, take your time I'm in no hurry
  20. hey does anyone have the Chrome strip for the center of the grill for a 39, mine would need hours worth of work to straighten, it's mangled, it took quite a bit of work with a rubber mallet and some other stuff to get the actual Grill back into shape before I painted it, it was all pushed in in the middle
  21. I'm still not sure yet, but I think it's starting to grow on me, I just wish it would stop damn raining so I can put the rest of it back together and see what it looks like
