  1. Thank you very much for that FG and a very Happy Christmas to you too. Pete
  2. Hi Guys I have been looking for a Back up/Reversing light for my P15 4 door. I have seen 2 advertised, both in about the same condition 1 is $99 + Shipping to the UK + tax = $149, the other $13.88 + shipping. The $99 one is advertised for Dodge/Desoto/Chrysler/Plymouth but, the $13.88 one is advertised just for Desoto and the fitting chart says it won't fit my P15. However they both have the same part number CB14094. I don't have a part number book, can anybody help and tell me if this is the right part number for my car? are they all the same fitting/part Number? Thanks in advance. Pete
  3. Great, because the one at the rear of my block has seized. Pete
  4. I Just checked out the part number you show on O'Reilly's site and using their fitment guide by typing in 1947 plymouth p15 and it says that "it will not fit your vehicle"? Have you actually fitted one of those BOB T. Pete
  5. I have had 3 orders now shipped over to the UK from AB and have found them great to deal with. I usually deal with a guy who signs himself CJ, however I have only spoke once on the phone which was fine. (maybe I was lucky) Pete
  6. Hi Guys. I have just purchased some replacement exterior door handles for my P15 4Door. Does anyone know if you can swap them by just unscrewing the 2 screws on the outside, pulling out the old handles and re screwing the replacements in? It sounds too simple, or do you have to take all the trim off etc. Thanks Pete
  7. Hi, I am sure this subject has been dealt with before but, can anybody tell me where to adjust the steering box on my P15 as I have a lot of play on the steering wheel. I have purchased a rebuild kit but would like to try some adjustment first. It would be great if someone could include a picture of the exact location. Thanks Pete
  8. Ive just ordered these of Ebay $89.95. They come with small screws. I liked these because they have the stainless trim at the top like OE.
  9. We must be lucky here in the UK as far as classic car insurance is concerned. My P15 cover: unlimited mileage....full comprehensive cover....windscreen cover (which would be hard to get in UK)....full cover whilst driving in mainland Europe (up to 30 days)....full get you home breakdown cover....all for £97 per year. that together with no MOT test.....and no road tax, makes owning a classic car here is quite cheap. Unless of course it's an American car when huge shipping costs and then the taxman's bit, more than makes up the difference HA HA. Pete
  10. If you use the calculations that I have listed above you can work them out yourself. Pete
  11. You can do some calculations, because the width of the tread x 75% (series) = the height of the sidewall x 2 + the dia of the wheel.gives you the rolling radius so, you can then compare it with you existing wheel/tire and make your choice. Example using the 205 75 x 15. remember radials are measured in metric. 205 x 75% = 153.75 15" wheel x 25.4 = 381 This is converting " to mm so the rolling radius of the tire is: 153.75 (top sidewall) 153.75 (bottom sidewall) 381.00 (wheel dia) 688.50 (total rolling radius) Pete
  12. I have had 2 orders delivered here in the UK from AB and both times I have been pleased with the service and communication, Each time I have dealt with a guy called CJ whoever that may be.
  13. Thanks yet again Guys. Pete
  14. Hi Just looking under the dash on my P15 and noticed that there is a drain pipe from the cowl vent. However there is only the L shaped bend which is attached, nothing more. I think I might get my feet wet! Can anybody tell me what else there should be, and where it should route? If possible with a picture. Thanks Pete
  15. If you are following the route I gave on the Tanks inc site, the "ORG - Early Ford & Mopar - 73-10 Ohms" is a 2 terminal sender not a 1 terminal. I am looking at it now. Pete
  16. Sorry I am not sure how to post a link but, If you go on their site and click VIEW PRODUCTS.....then....MOPAR FUEL TANKS.....then....1941-48 DODGE AND PLYMOUTH STEEL FUEL TANK you will then see as well as the tank an "optional sender unit" click on it and there are more details and at the bottom it shows the "ORG - Early Ford & Mopar - 73-10 Ohms" Hope this helps. Pete
  17. What about This from tanks inc: 2 terminal.....cut float to length......$35. Pete
  18. I am going to use this air filter from summit racing. Sorry for the upload but I am not sure how to upload a link so if you open the document it gives the description and as you can see you get an adapter that goes to 2-5/16" which should fit the carb ok. Pete air filter.doc
  19. Just starting my tanks inc fit of the same tank, Could you tell me where to find the "Fred's posting of how it goes on" thread is please. Thanks Pete
  20. Just wiring up the 6v fan to the 12v to 6v converter and before I switched the fan on I thought I would run a meter across to see how many amps draw there was but before I did that I thought I would also check out the 3 stage switch with a test light, It worked fine ie: live feed in, nothing coming out, switch it on live coming out on all 3 stages. However connect the fan feed wire from the switch and the fan runs straight away with no actual feed from the switch, turn the switch on and the fan stops. As I thought the fan was not polarity sensitive I am a bit stumped so any help would be great. By the way the fan seams to be drawing about 6 - 7 amps and as it's a 3 stage switch I think the slow setting most prob takes care of the start spike so doesn't blow the 10 amp fuse. Thanks Pete
  21. Or maybe, go to a tire shop and ask for a small amount of the lube they use to put tires on? Pete
  22. Don My heater is not the same as yours (please see pic), so I am not sure if the same motor would fit? I have emailed Siemens here in the UK and asked about the motor that you have suggested as they do not list that part number but, they have not replied. In addition if I change the motor for a 12v will I need to change or have any problems with the 3 stage fan switch (please also see pic) as it seems to have 2 resistor type things attached I assume to reduce/increase voltage to adjust the fan speed? Pete
  23. Hi Guys Just purchased a voltage converter 12v to 6v that will handle up to 10amp which I am going to use for the fuel gauge and heater fan instead of a runtz type resistor (fuel gauge). my question is as the car is now neg earth instead of pos do I need to change anything ie: will the heater fan run the other way or anything like that? Thanks in advance. Pete
  24. Thanks for all the replies guys. I was going to re-locate the shocks anyway, but I think I will hang fire for a while and consider what way to go with the lowering, there is plenty more to get on with first. Pete
  25. Hi I am wanting to lower my car by 2". I seem to remember on a previous thread that if you remove 1 complete coil on the front springs it should be about right for 2" lowering. However a friend of mine has just done the same thing on a ford ranchero pick up (1 complete coil) and now if he jacks the car up on anything other than the bottom of the wishbone (a arms) the springs fall out. Has anybody had the same problem on a P15? Also can anybody suggest the best place to find 2" lowering blocks and U bolts for the rear end? Thanks in advance Pete
