  1. Yeah, you bunch of crabby old geezers! I know they couldnt have been talking about me.
  2. Thats a drag; Im seeing the same on Ebay and CL. Now people think every pre 1969 four door beater is some kind of rare collectors item.
  3. This stuff is all long gone; the thread got revived again somehow. I originally posted this 3 or 4 years ago.
  4. Nice job! You're going to have a pretty slick ride when you're done.
  5. Sure dont, Charley. This stuff has been gone for a while.
  6. I guess they figured since it would be hauling refrigerators, it should look like one.
  7. I thought this was cool; in 63 the Westinghouse Appliance Division contracted with Studebaker to build them a user specific fleet of service vehicles. They wanted something resonably priced that would be a Westinghouse only vehicle. Studebaker came up with a simple cab over pickup and a van design. One of each was built as a prototype but Studebaker went belly up before they could start building them. This is the last Studebaker truck they ever designed. This truck was a supposed barn find that ended up in a museum and they dont know what happened to the van. I thought building a replica of this on a Dakota chassis would be cool.
  8. We finally got the decklid, doors and rear fenders on, primered, and sprayed with guidecoat. Now for a lot of wet sanding and hopefully some color in the near future.
  9. Very cool; the Desoto had the coolest looking front end of all the Mopars of that era; I think.
  10. Thanks; got a little crazy there for a while.
  11. Are you making those pilot bearings to sell, Robert? I'll take one if you are.
  12. That's a great looking wheel, Bob.
  13. I know I change my mind as often as my socks but after more thinking I decided to ditch the whole small block idea, stay with the flathead, and add a five speed. It really runs great and mainly what I want it to have better highway manners so I think I just need more gears rather than more engine. The gest of it is that I've got a 318 in nice shape that will make a great street engine. Pictures and description are in the parts for sale section.
  14. Thanks Robert, are you having some piolot bushings made from brass? Im just about sold on trying this; it looks like a great alternative to the T-5 swap. Im thinking of using an 95 and up Explorer rearend; 59 1/2" plus rear disc brakes.
  15. Robert, What clutchplate, pressure plate, and throwout bearing did you use on this?
  16. Sounds like you got a real gem! Pictures required, of course.
  17. Thanks, Don. I"ll make good use of that.
  18. Sorry to hear that, Pat. I'll add you to our prayer list if that's OK.
  19. What front and rear tire sizes are everyone running on their P-15? Trying to decide what to put on mine. Pictures would be cool if you have them.
  20. Cass, i'd stick it on Ebay with a $20 starting price. Someone will take it off your hands. We've had several warm days; I know you've been out in the garage working!
  21. Thanks, Cass. I'll keep that in mind.
  22. Yeah, come on by and we'll take her out. I've been driving it quite a bit and enjoying it. Tim, the NV3500 is the trans I was looking at; I want to go with the hydraulic clutch and probably a Dakota pedal assembly. The plan is a mildly built 318 with a 5 speed, an Explorer 8.8 4:10 disc brake rear, front discs, front and rear larger sway bars, and lower the car all the way around. Im going to collect parts over the summer while I drive it and do all the conversion over next winter.
  23. Yeah, it was listed on Craigslist as a 360 but when I tore it down it turned out to be a 318. Ive never built a Mopar small block so I didnt think about checking to see if it was what they said it was. But I only gave $100 for it and everything inside looks really good so Im going to go ahead and use it. I read a couple of good budget build articles that squeezed 400 HP out of a 318with a stock short block. That's plently for what I want to do with it. Im going to stick a 5 speed behind it plus upgrade my brakes to 4 wheel disc and lower the car. After summer is over, that is. For now I'm driving it like it is while I work on my 48.
  24. That is one slick piece of engineering; looks great!
  25. Im going your route, Cass. The flattie runs good but after driving it a few months and watching your build i picked up a 360 for the 49. I tore it down for inspection and found that the 360 was a 318 but Im still going with it. I think I'm going with a 5 speed instead of an automatic. It'll be this fall; Im going to get some miles out of it the way it is, first.
