  1. 7.87 gears and 54 inch tires, have no idea what top speed will be on the highway.
  2. Where is rohnners? I want to look at that front end off the school bus. Mine is kinda bent up.
  3. I got useable gauges from a 58, will that work?
  4. Probably my truck your looking for. 55 changed to 4 wheel drive by coleman. Power brakes and steering in 1955 4x4. Will be a fun truck. Still researching the history.
  5. Will have a 57 3 ton dump with no motor or trans soon. Donor truck for finishing my 55.
  6. Thank you for showing us how its done. The right amount of dedication, planning and small compromises to get that truck going! I don't mean to worry you, but I had the goodyear wranglers like you have on the back of the truck. One went flat in the driveway and when I went to get it repaired, the flat and all three others were split all around the inside. Goodyear shop claimed it was from overloading, but they are on a Ranger. Talked to another buddy that owns a tire shop and he says its from too much synthetic in the rubber. Ozone cracking is what he called it. The tires were only three years old. Hate to see those amazing fenders banged up by a crappy tire. You may be okay as its not operated in low temps, but keep an eye on them.
  7. Another yellow 55, wish my sheet metal was in that good of shape. Great to see progress on it.

1955 coleman dodge 4x4. Was built this way by coleman.
  9. From the album: my dodge

    55 dodge 4x4 coleman manufacturing.
  10. It is going little by little. The rear end and the steering box are now gone.
  11. ggdad it was aug 2011 post with the 39 dodge tour bus and the b4 fifth wheel hauler. My truck came out of the junkyard just down the road.
  12. And no I am not lowering this truck, if anything I may go higher.
  13. ggdad1951 you were only a mile from my house! I got mine and a 57 dumper I'm buying for parts with a running hemi. I will sell the leftovers of the 57 when I am done.
  14. My Grandfather says the older c175 wasn't that great of an engine. He didn't say why. I am looking at a hough front end loader that has the same engine, but I also have 4 and 6bt engines to replace the c175 if needed. As far as transmission combos available, the bt series has a plate that bolts on the back of the block and you can get ford, chevolet, dodge, and sae transmission bolt patterns. If the c175 flywheel housing comes off the block, you probably could bolt one of these to the back and run any transmission you wanted. What I have found is cummins engines with a lot of use behind a manual transmission, the thrust bearing on the crankshaft is worn and the crank will walk back and forth some. As far as power and rpm, you can turn up the fuel and rpms, but do so at your own risk.
  15. Thanks for the correction. I guessed from the headlights similar to a 57 dodge truck. Hate to see this old stuff turned into Chinese toasters, but its what scrap yards do to make money nowadays.
  16. I work in a scrap yard and this came in recently. Anybody interested in buying before it hits the shredder? Located in upper peninsula. HYFIRE V* in it. Floors rusted very bad.
  17. It is the hemi head, not the poly head
  18. Looked at the hemi today. The truck is a 1957 750 dump truck. Scraped all the crud off the engine and the numbers are vt350 1146. From what I can tell from my research it must be a 1954 331 2 barrel hemi out of a light pickup. Any more info would be appreciated.
  19. Going to look at the hemi today, get some numbers off it and take some pics to post later. Hopefully the guy will take my offer.
  20. I too have a 55 4x4. 3 ton built by coleman. Originally was a dump truck. Going to look at a 58 hemi today for it.
  21. Checking out a hemi today for the 55

  22. Another 55, cool!!! I may have some extra glass in the near future.
  23. Looking for a stepside box for it now. Hoping to buy one around june. What years would be correct and did dodge make a 9-10 foot stepside box?
  24. I found a 1957 dumptruck with a hemi and a 5 speed. The guy says it runs and he wants 2000 for the whole truck. What kind of hemi was in this truck and what transmission is it? Does it have overdrive? The truck also has a 2 speed rear end.
