  1. My bad, carter fuel pump. I'm not too worried the day of the wedding just the drive out. I am going to take the car out a few days early so if there are any problems I can hopefully fix it before the big day.I know its not that long of a trip just want to be prepared.
  2. I ordered the Carter fuel pump today from rock auto to keep as a spare. I am getting married end of July on Shelter Island (east end of long island NY in between the fork)and we are using the Plymouth in our wedding. I want to have a spare fuel pump because the drive to Shelter Island is about a 2 hour drive and I hear they can fail without warning. Is there anything else that I should keep in the trunk as a spare besides a tire?
  3. Do new pumps come with a gasket?
  4. Rock auto calls out for a Carter mechanical pump (M847) is there a difference between an AC (AC588) or a Carter?
  5. Anyone know what the going price is for a new mechanical fuel pump? Rock Auto has them for $51.79 is that the going rate?
  6. Anyone a fan of Austin Powers? You guys sure that's not a pump made by the Swedes?
  7. Looks like a Mazda Miata
  8. It sounds like it is your starter solenoid that is hanging up. Its an easy fix and not expensive
  9. Dennis sorry to hear about your friend also
  10. Randroid you are right(at least he was doing what he loved) I said that to my self the other day and it helped me alot.
  11. I Just thought I would share this with you guys on this Memorial day weekend. It is not good news but just a reminder what these guys do for us. This article is about a friend of mine who lost his life this past Thursday doing what he loved. I haven't spoke to him since he left for the Air Force, but I still remember the great times that we spent together. Its amazing what he had accomplished at such a young age. http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/ny-lipilo2412799338may23,0,6468614.story
  12. Thanks dezeldoc but this is the style I am looking for
  13. I am still searching for a nice pair of either, its been over a year now and no luck. If anyone has a pair or knows where to get them please let me know.
  14. Anyone know what year they started using stainless instead of pot metal for the rear fender stone guards? The ones that I have on my 50 Plymouth are pot metal. Also do the mounting studs on the stainless match the mounting studs on the pot metal ones?
  15. Thanks guys
  16. I think I read on this forum that an SOS pad can be used to brighten up chrome and stainless,is this true?
  17. I think you need to shock the metal. Not sure how you do it but I think you heat the area then shock it with a cold wet rag and it should straighten it out.
  18. I hear Krylon Fusion spray paint works good on tires. There are some people that have used this paint on the forum and say it holds up good.
  19. The conversion prices are not to bad, something to look into
  20. Started the 50 Plymouth today to let it warm up and take a ride down to the beach(we finally have some dry weather). While it was in the driveway I turned on the radio and heard the vibrator buzzing then I smelted a burning electrical smell. I turned the radio off then about 5 minutes later I turned it back on and all I hear is the vibrator, any ideas on what could have happened?
  21. The picture with the T & C looks like it is somewhere in France, oui ?
  22. $1400 seems like a good deal if that includes all of your parts. A good thing is if the shop does the work you can always go back to them if there is a problem with their work. If you do the work and mess somthing up its your fault. I replaced pistons rings and rod rbearings with no problems with the motor in the car.
  23. you can get a one wire fuel sender from jcwhitney for about $25,just have to modify it using the top disc from an old sender.
