I have seen guys spray the base coat then use a small roller to hit the high spots. Works great:D

If there is a core plug near where you think it is, fish it out with one of those long bendable magnets. You also may get lucky and stick the magnet down the head bolt hole and try to bring it up that way. May be tricky to get it to thread out though. Just take your time you will get it.It may not be a big deal if it is left in also. -

I remember reading in an old post you can disconnect the choke wire from the starter,run a wire from the choke terminal to the battery to test the choke operation. Do you put the wire on the positive side or negitive side of the battery to test it? I just want to see if my choke is closing correctly and adjust it if needed.The car stumbles when cold until it is wormed up. Dont know if I can ruin anything if it is hooked up to the wrong terminal.

I finally installed my new oil pick up tube and new oil pan from VPW. I sealed the fuel pump and oil pump also. I took her (Betty) for a drive today to check for leaks and I think she is 99.9% leak free.

I think My 50 Plymouth manual says any pressure above 0 psi at idle is good and 40 psi at 30mph.

Just curious if anyone is using stainless hardware on their cars. Or just plain old grade 5. Grade 5 does have a coating to try and prevent corrosion right?

I received my new oil pickup tube from VPW, so now I will be able to install my new oil pan from VPW . Should I use any locktite or sealant on the threads or just screw it in dry?

Well,I tried to install my oil pan today and the oil pickup tube was hitting the side of the pan in one spot. Not allowing me to install the pan. Looks like I will have to order the different pickup tube from VPW. I just want to get this car back together and enjoy!!!

BeBop, why did you have to change your pickup tube? I think mine should be a direct replacement.I did not see any thing different in the pan. I have a rear sump,do you?

Hey guys, I received my oil pan (NOS) last week from Vintage Power Wagons. It is a slightly different shape in some areas but does not seem to be a problem in any way. I was just wondering if military oil pans were made in a different gauge steel. It seems like the new one is alot heavier then my old one. I like the idea if it is incase I ever hit the pan on anything. I had it sand blasted and I painted it up. I will try to post pics to show the slight differances but my lap top has been acting up.
