  1. Please explain how you do this----do you have to have o-2 sensors in the pipes or do you insert the guage......thanks
  2. Marty, keep us posted on what you find.........I am running a pair on my 265 and I am curious. Hope to pick up some tips as you get deeper into the tuning..........Thanks..........Lee
  3. To me PORTER steel pack mufflers sound the best---Babler Automotive Mound Minnesota--------I don`t like them just because they are made here---they were sold Nation wide years ago. Then the company that made them went out of business, the guy that put them on here went on a search Nation wide to all machine shops for there steel shavings---he found a match and has been making them here since the 80`s. Great sound and made very durable. I had a set on my 57 Buick for 25 years and they still sound good.....Good Luck
  4. If I may jump in----I took 65 thou off my head and 3-5 thou of the block---do you have to run different plugs with the change??
  5. James do you have the part# for that kit---I will be running two of these and if more fuel is needed with the cam I will be using I may need to put these on my carbs.....Lee
  6. How do the carbs respond? Did you have to re-jet them or did you use them right out of the box? I am using the same carbs on my 265 and my rebuild is going pretty much the same as yours, engine is about half done, all the parts are there, we just need to get it together. What kind of tranny are you using? Thanks.....Lee
  7. Pete, the guy worked on some stuff for me and is a well known rodder around here. Glanced at the car a few times but wasn`t paying to much attension--hemi in it. The bus may say ACME car club on it.....got to make the trip myself sometime.........Lee
  8. Pete, check and see if you see a bunch of guys in a converted school bus with a 40 Chev that is to run on the flats---the guy with the 40 is Greg Benson---I think he`s shooting for the 200 club----------have fun......Lee:D
  9. Thanks for the info---if it doesn`t heat up enough I can always make a new nipple for the front that has the extension tube........
  10. all i used were the old fittings that screwed into the head and water pump. I drilled a big enough hole into them and put a 3/8 nipple on each and brazed them in place. The old fitting is good for the 5/8 heater hose and the new brazed piece is for the water heat on the intake. Good luck
  11. ED, to bad you won`t be at Fifties, as you know it`s always a good time......Lee
  12. Looks familiar............hhhhhhmmmmmm:D
  13. Just wanted to know for sure---the extension goes about three inches down on the inside--if it isn`t needed why did they put it on in the first place? I agree that it really shouldn`t make any difference, just wanted to make sure. I made two of these double feed nipples--one for the rear of the block and one on the water pump. My intension is to run constant flow for the intake off one line and the other for the heater, of which I will have an inline shut off. The old heater set up was real big and interfered with the intake and carbs. I went with a small heater core and fan motor off a 40 Olds---it fits nice under the dash and will give me what I need for heat in the early spring--late fall.........thanks guys for your input........Lee
  14. On my 265 they have the heater tube that comes out on the top of the water pump--the tube has an extension on it---do I need to have this. I have made my own tube that has two nipples coming from it---one for the heater and one for the water heat for the intake. By not having the extended tube affect water flow? Thanks.....Lee
  15. Best of luck to you..............Lee
  16. Will a dizzy from a 52 Windsor with the 265 help?
  17. Greg, for my exciter wire I took a wire from the ignition switch to a small light bulb then to the alt. Turn key to on the light powers up, when you start the car the light goes off---works the same as an idiot light. I used a 42 amp alt and my gauge reads to 50 amps, that way you can`t overload the gauge and cause a fire. Another point, just recently my gauge went bad and it took out the diode in the alt. I fixed the alt and put both wires on the gauge to one post to complete the circut---turned the set up in to the idiot light system. I will convert the gauge later to a volt meter---more reliable. I thought if you use a two wire alt you have to have an exciter wire?? Good Luck.....Lee:
  18. How do you get in touch with the guy---email =, phone? Thanks.....Lee
  19. ED, there was one at Fifties about three years back----MoPar too----two guys were stitting in it, they didn`t know which way to go either!!!
  20. I am the guy Moose is building the intake for----I asked him to post pics of it. After it`s installed I will let you know how it works. I will be setting my water flow the same as Pete`s. The engine it`s going on is about half way thru the rebuild--if things go well I should have it in before fall. If not it will become the "winter project":D Lee
  21. Pat, my Windsor was the first MoPar I ever bought and before I decided to go with the flat six I was a GM guy--raced Chevs and cruised in comfort in my Buicks---I had a 57 nailhead with the Dynaflow that came real close to being fitted in the ole Windsor. For me it`s always the challange of doing something different. I`am glad I didn`t--it has been fun hoping up the six, brings back memorys of racing my Chev six banger when I was seventeen. Doing all the stuff I wanted to do back then now----build the car the way you like, it`s about the time and memorys you have after that count---Happy Trails:).....Lee
  22. Well Adam came and picked up the M-6----he came from MILWAUKEE six hours of driving one way---you really must like the M-6. Glad to see someone could use it---Good luck Adam on your 49 Windsor.............Lee:D
  23. Thought I would give another shot on giving away the tranny--I really don`t want to ship it but if you really need one we can make some sort of arrangements. It worked fine when I took it out. The T-5 that replaced it is much better--lol:D
  24. Putting Tom aside for the moment what is the general feeling on how well the CW`s work? How many guys on this forum are using them and are you happy with them. I bought a set to put on my 265, just curious as to any problems with them.......Thanks Lee
  25. ED, Bob McGinley who owns Mr. Tune-up has a 38 Ply coupe with the T-5 also.
