Well, Tim, best part is I got this pair with the car to hang on my wall!

Well, it was dark and rainy, but here are some fresh ones.

I just tried to pm someone with my I-phone. I get a box too big for the window and am typing off one side I can't see, so it's of no value. You might try it and see if there is a problem with the site, or maybe Safari that I'm using.

Airflow arrived about 2 hours ago. Chris, recommended by Reg Evans, did an awesome job. What a good guy. I'd recommend him anytime. Thanks Reg. Now the fun begins!

I've had several radios restored by: http://www.southtexasantiqueelectronics.com/ For around $150 he'll make it work like it did when it was new, and you can go on up adding an input for your ipad/serius radio, etc. He does good work, and will also repaint it like it was if you want for a little more. He's been doing this for years, and recently retired and should have more time now. He's just a radio geek that likes doing it. He'll have my Airflow radio when we go to Texas next month. There are a number of other places that do this as well. Some places can even add an fm tuner into your works, not sure if the above guy does that, you would have to ask him.

If you read the links you'll find that they put in many different variations, chances are the factory installed them.

There are plenty of junkers around, a good one doesn't have to be cut up. That is sad.

First one on top is a 36 Coupe, a pretty rare car. Th last one is like mine (better finsh, of course), a 36 sedan. It has the correct bumper guards, mine has Chrysler. Who knows why, I sure don't. 36 was the first year of a steel insert roof instead of fabric. Chevrolet came out with it and they had to so they could compete. The surprise for me is, it's electrically insulated from the rest of the roof and serves as an antenna for the radio. And you probably thought hidden antennas were something recent.

I'm already finding that this statement is pretty far off - not much is the same. My 36 is a 1 year engine, not much is even interchangeable with other years of Airflows! Even the wheels have a different bolt pattern. 5 on a 5" circle, like the 3/4 ton pickups of later years. I am talking to Airflow club menbers and they are a great source of info. I'm lucky that mine runs, drives and stops and has no rust. So at least I gt to use it as I improve it, not spend years trying to get it fixed enough to take a drive. If it shows up Tuesday, I'll have a license on it and drive by Wednesday. I'll post pictures once it gets here, as there seems to be some interest.

Airflow went in Chris' truck this afternoon. It's heading East. He expects to be here Tuesday. I'm getting excited. It needs a little bit, but it's not a project. First one I bought that wasn't a big project. More to come.

The ugliest thing on this Airflow is the running board condition. In searching the web and talking to a few people who do this I find a wide variation in prices. Hard to tell if the quality varies as well. I found a place in Georgia, Hunley Acuff running board repair, who has dies for this car and his price sounds very reasonable. Anyone use him? Results? Other recommendations? Thanks.

That is the serial number, which many jurisdictions would use as the VIN. If possible, I'd get it changed to that, instead of the motor number, to avoid problems down the road. Some of those problems are outlined above. In Missouri it's a simple process, and done in conjunction with registering it, it's free. Probably not so simple in some other places.

I bought a set of Diamondbacks about 2 years ago for my 53 plymouth. They look great, and unlike the Cokers I put on my 40 Dodge. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to get it in shape to drive yet, but next week I'm going to put them on this Airflow I just bought, so I'll be able to report how they drive soon. I will say, they do look like quality and the people were very pleasant to work with.

I hadn't thought about it, Ed, but I guess that is what happened. Found the transmission, posted it thinking one of you guys might need it. Then found the car, wife says we need it. Figured out I could use it, he still has it, friends help getting it moved. Coming from complete opposite ends of the country, all meeting in the middle. About the same time. If I wrote it up as a fiction story it would be too far out to believe!

It can, but they might have to strain a little. Chances are you'll have to clean it up some, maybe even sand it so it's readable. Even then, it it's rusted it may not all be legible.

What a small world we live in. My son heard I was buying a transmission. He said a good friend, who was his best man, lived not far away. Called him, he's happy to pick it up and take it to Fed ex. Guy is paid, things are moving. What a good week this has been!

I'll try to figure out how that works. I found an OD transmission for this airflow, but the guy is old and can't move it. It needs to go from Southampton to The FedEx office in Framington, about 80 miles. Just show up at Fedex's door, they'll pack and ship it on my account. Someone has put a plain 3 speed in mine, the OD is in parts in a box. I can really use this thing. Help please!

Pictures hide a lot - like the seats the moths ate. Don't show loose steering. Things like that. But no rust, not bent up. Motor sounds good but needs tuneup. Needs the correct carburetor. Running boards recovered. I'll go through the brakes and front end, tune it up - and find an emergency brake - and do the other things a little at a time while driving it. The seller (he's a good guy) assumed old cars like that always wandered badly and barely stopped. Not so when everything is tight and aligned.

Well, I bought it. A LOT less than he wanted, a little more than I wanted, but it'll work out. Chris, the recommended trucker, will probably pick it up Monday, it'll be in Mo. before long, then I can see what I really got into.

I'm crawling around this Airflow and have a question. We're the floorboards in theis wood or metal? I think metal, but this all plywood.
