  1. Fred, You might want to take a look at these. I have not used these companies so can't endore them just info I found while doing searches for my interior. http://www.automotiveinteriors.com/ From $288 for front and rear seats in vinyl http://www.customseatcovers.com/index.htm No pricing but they show that they have the patterns.
  2. Bob, Check this link http://www.kaiserbill.com/Web-PDF/OD-Solenoid.pdf there is an explanation on testing the solenoid. You could test the solenoid with both a 6 and 12 volt battery. If it is a 12 volt solenoid it would be sluggish on the 6 volt battery.
  3. "What-Zit" Ugly! I think I would rather have that 49 with the gull wing doors than a Miata wearing a 57 Chevy costume.
  4. Rockwood, That is looking good. Can't wait to see it rolled out in the sunshine for some good pictures. If you are like most of us, you are much more critical of your own work than most others would ever be. I am sure the runs and orange peel are not nearly as bad as you think they are.
  5. I was cleaning up the garage tonight and going through some parts that were pulled off my car when I swapped the engine and transmission. This was mounted on the firewall and I'm pretty sure that it was a vacumn storage canister to give the wipers a boost. Is that right? Now for the mystery part. This was mounted under the hood, low on the firewall or on the toe board if I remember correctly. As you can see it looks to have a vacumn hose out one end and the long rod coming out of the threaded brass is a spring loaded plunger type thing. Neither the hose nor the "plunger" were attached to anything so I have no idea what it is for or what it was doing there. What the heck do I have here? Hoping someone tells me that it is an extremely rare prototype power brake booster or something and that Barrett Jackson will want to sell it for a couple hundred grand. But instead, you will probably tell me it was some early run your car on water gadget hocked by Billy Mays' Grandfather and worth about 50 cents.
  6. Man, you need to slow down or you aren't going to have anything to do next week.
  7. I will check those, but it has a new battery, cables, alternator and wiring harness in the past 8-9 months.
  8. Headed out to customer meetings this morning and had to jump my coupe to get it started which I thought was strange, but it fired right up when jumped. Let it run for a couple minutes while I put my wife's car back in the garage then checked the gauge and it was charging. Made it just over 4 blocks from home to a stop sign. Went through the intersection and made it into second gear when it died just as if I had turned off the key. No horn, lights turn signals, nothing. Towed it back home and went to my meetings late. Have not had a chance to look to see if I can find the problem yet, but wanted to check with the experts to see if I could get some advice for where to start or what to look for. Any ideas?
  9. So Bob, do you think you will be able to save it? Looks 100 times better than it did.
  10. How about one of these? http://www.carcapsule.com/
  11. You know, other than the gull-wing doors the lines actually flow fairly well and could make a pretty decent custom with say some candy red over gold paint.
  12. Not at all. I can run down the highway with everybody else it just takes me a little longer to get to highway speed. I pass some folks while some pass me, but I am definately not a rolling road block.
  13. Picked this up last week, engine locked up. Going with a slant 6 and push button auto. What gear should I run in the rear?
  14. We even had a 3.3 quake here in North Texas on Saturday.
  15. Check this out http://www.moparmagazine.com/2008/sept-oct/edgy_mopars So, at least 136 mph
  16. There was a discussion a couple weeks ago about body trim clips so when I came across this I thought I would throw it out there. The company is Mr. G's Enterprises in Ft Worth, TX. This a link to the metal trim clips they offer but they have a lot of other useful parts as well. Prices do not look to bad either. http://www.mrgusa.com/pdfs/40-43mclips.pdf
  17. Front Fenders http://www.rrfiberglass.net/dodge_plymouth.htm
  18. I have a set from Langdon's and have had absolutely zero problems with mine. Straight out of the box onto the engine. Very happy with mine.
  19. Knighthawk, Looking good. You have come a long way since I was there a couple months ago. I saw the chop first hand and can tell you he did a great job.
  20. Might try one of these places. Rocker King - 262-549-9643 sonoma@execpc.com Green Mountain Parts - 802-948-2086 PO Box 100, Route 22A Orwell, Vermont 05760
  21. Lono, Good save. What are your plans for the drive train? It is staying all Mopar isn't it?
  22. Bob, Sorry to hear of your mother-in-law, your family will be in our prayers. Talked to mom yesterday and they lost a couple of trees as well as several shingles. The roof and back two rooms of her house were new as what happend to your coupe happened to her house in the tornadoes that hit the area a few years ago. Hopefully things are not as bad with the coupe as they appear now. There are possibilities. As you said maybe you can graft on a new roof, or make a roadster out of it like that blue 0ne that has been on ebay several times. Our just straighten out the wrinkles and make a chopped tail dragger custom like this.
  23. Here are a couple of things that may be of interest. Discussion of a simple IPod installation from the HAMB http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=243821 Hidden Audio System http://www.vintagevibes.net/Stereos/secretaudio.htm
  24. For what it is worth, Kelly Blue Book lists it at $9925 for Milwaukee zip codes. So, his asking price is on the top end just gives him some room to negotiate or get a bonus if he finds a rube willing to give him that. Our high school youth pastor has one black/black and he constantly has people asking him if it is for sale.
  25. Scotty, Check out this post from the HAMB for a pretty simple straight forward method to make mounts for basically any engine into any frame. The photos are missing from the original post but if you go to page 2 it is copied there with all the photos. If you have the ability to measure and cut all the pieces you could easily have them welded up for you. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143120&highlight=motor+mount+tech&page=3
