  6. My 95 Dodge 12v gets about the same as the Ranger did 20-21 mixed driving, the best I got was a trip from San Diego to Las Vegas, cruise set on 70 with the AC on...24.78. My new truck 04 Cummins 2wd crewcab with 33" tires avg's about 18-19....other than the price of a compact why bother.

Moose...that's one bad macheen!! is that a reground cam? what's the spec on it?
  8. I had a 93 Ranger 2.3l 5spd, great little truck worked it hard for 4 years, I sold it for what I paid for it...very underpowered and forget about it when I had the A/C on, avg about 20-21mpg My brother had a 96 Tacoma 4 cyl 5speed, ran circles around the Ranger and got 25mpg...but the chassis on the Ranger was twice the size...go figure.
  9. I'm using Welderseries.com mounts for the sbc that's going in a 50 F1...got them here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/110771783655
  10. How about a flathead inspired shirt, you know dual carbs, headers, aluminum head....
  11. I'd love to get my hands on that 39' with the V8, what was the asking price on it?
  12. Yup, that's exactly what it started doing at first then all of them started popping out...after a couple of drives around the block I also started feeling/hearing a "CLUNK" when letting out the clutch in reverse, so..... I found your thread on the pork...subscribed. JP
  13. Looks perfect. the tires tuck in just right...I'd say leave that size tire in the back and run a smaller size up front. I am torn between keeping my flatty, which runs strong but the tranny is having problems, pops out of gear, needs clutch..etc...and doing a V8 swap...so I'll be keeping an eye on your tranny swap.
  14. If you want to go a lower without cutting your coils anymore..... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=685246

  17. That's sharp!!...any more pics of it?
  18. So is a little movement normal?
  19. Is there supposed to be any movement in the steering box when rocking the the steering wheel back and forth..I removed two shims and adjusted the nut on top...it really got rid of a lot of slop, but there's still some play. Probably half of what I had, I checked the steering linkage and related parts with the wheels on the ground and had my wife rock the steering back and forth...everything looked normal, no excessive movement, but the box itself moves a little and the steering shaft along with it...Im just wondering if it's the innards or the box to frame gasket.
  20. I bought mine from this guy.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/260859048091?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 and he has good rebuild tech on youtube....
  21. A lot of it here... http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/electrical/
  22. I plan on removing the front fender trim, hood trim and lower trim under the door... but keeping the upper body trim...I found a good article on the HAMB on how-to peak a hood.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2387
  23. None of the above...they all seem to be snap-on.
  24. On my 48' Plymouth the original steelies have clips to hold the caps and I can't seem to find any babymoons that fit them, they all seem too fit the wheels with nubs...anybody know where I can find them for clip on?
  25. You didn't by chance take pics of the rebuild, did ya?...where did you get the parts and how difficult was it?...I'll know where I'm at later this week as soon as I get my wheel cylinder kit in I can assemble the front end and check my steering, but I think I will need a rebuild.
