  1. Bones 44, love the twin carb/Edgy head. Very cool. Mick.
  2. Some 70s-80s 4 cylinder Toyotas had a rubber cap on their spark plugs, I presume to protect the plugs from moisture. May be worth a look (maybe Google it). Not unlike what I have seen on some Hemis. Mick.
  3. Very nice looking ride. I am doing up a 1940 Chrysler Coupe (C25). I love the shape of this era Coupe. I have a 318 Poly and a "push button"gear selector 727. Keep up the good work. Mick.
  4. Looking real good Chris. Did you replace the water distribution tube before re-fitting the water pump? Good time to do it whilst the engine is out of the car. Body looks in pretty good condition. Keep up the good work. Mick.
  5. Go to "you tube" and type in Turbo flathead six. It's a very interesting video. It has just a small hint of a turbo whistle. Sounds very good. Mick.
  6. What a fantastic event. Nothing better than to see a large group of like minded folk enjoying their Mopar trucks. What was on the bar-b-que "grizzly bear"? (looked too big for a steak). Many thanks for posting up the pics. Would love to attend but I'm on the wrong side of this planet. Mick.
  7. Hey Davin, really enjoying this build thread. The 3.54.1 diff ratio will be much more "highway friendly". Keep up the good work. Mick.
  8. Merry Christmas to all members on here. Being ahead of the U.S.A. timewise it's Christmas down under today 9.12 A.M. If you have to be out on the roads please take care. Mick.
  9. James, I might know where there is a 250ci "spitfire" sidevalve six minus the head. I shall make some enquires if you are interested. Sorry to disappoint you, but the one I was thinking of has been thrown to scrap. Just found out today. The bloke that is working on my 1940 Coupe threw it out without even consulting me. Pretty pissed off. Mick.
  10. James, check out www.dodgeparts.com.au (03) 5345 4094 The blokes name is Jim Robinson from Clunes (near Ballarat). He has a lot of sidevalve stuff and he also rebuilds them if required. Mick.
  11. Great pics Andy. James as you can see by Andys' photos the sidevalve six can be made to look good and run a lot better that factory original. Edgy head and side plates split exhaust manifold and two 97s and you have instant "wow" factor. If it was me I would go for it, freight costs are high but so is the reward. Mick.
  12. James, if you decide to retain the original motor do yourself a favour and google "Edgy finned heads". They look fantastic on the sidevalve six. Just a thought. Good luck with it. Mick.
  13. James, these were imported into Australia as CKD (completely knocked down) and assembled at Adelaide's Tonsley Park. Mick.
  14. Don, we actually celebrate Christmas a "day earlier" than you guys stateside. It is currently 11.44 A.M. here on Christmas day. Mick.
  15. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a happy safe and prosperous New Year. Mick.
  16. Love your ride Brian. I have a 1940 Chrysler Coupe (C25). I shall be watching what you do to yours closely. Good luck with it. Mick.
  17. Many thanks for the replies. Andy, my chassis wasn't cut off just added to for more strength and the HT Holden front crossmember was grafted into the original chassis. Rick, thanks for that pic. I shall check mine out. I may just "find" my chassis number on my new front end lol. Mick.
  18. Ricky, I am having the same issue as "Andydodge" except mine is a 1940 Chrysler Coupe (C25) model. Are you saying the chassis number can be found on the bottom side of the C section facing the road? This whole issue is very confusing. Mick.
  19. Andrea, love your Ute. Your model was known as a "Coupe Ute". They came into Australia in kit form (completely knocked down) and were assembled at the Keswick plant in Adelaide. Looks to be a very good body. Mick.
  20. That doesn't sound right. My Desoto Hemi only weighs 550 lbs. Mick.
  21. What an "artisan". Love your work. Many thanks for sharing it with us. Mick.
  22. I have a 276 Desoto hemi in my 1940 Chrysler Coupe. I have a rack and pinion steering. The whole chassis is boxed front to rear. I used the rubber pad type engine mounts off a "Landrover Discovery" I have fitted a "Borgwarner" diff 3.23.1 ratio. The engine will run on L.P.G. I think you blokes call it "propane". It can be done. Mick.
  23. Andy, you finally sold it. I didn't think it would sell, not many people are outlaying any dollars at the moment, times are tough! As others have mentioned, at least you have the Dodge 4 door. Hey what happened to the cowl vent rubber/seal you were going to mail down to me? I presume you are no doubt saddened about having to sell the Plymouth but hey you can't drive the two of them at once. I guess you will have to put all your efforts and love into the Dodge (at least you still have a Mopar). I think we have all been in your situation at one time or another, things will improve they always do. Look at my 1940 Chrysler Coupe, it's ground to a halt due to a lack of dollars. I am sure things will pick up and I will be able to proceed again. Keep your chin up old mate. Mick.
  24. I have spent the last 43 years as a truck driver. Semi trailers and for the last 10 years "B-doubles"/road trains. I got injured in a workplace accident resulting in having a "shoulder replacement". Currently looking for something less demanding physically. 5 more years to go before retirement. MIck.
  25. Happy New Year to all of you on the other side of the pacific ocean. It's currently 12.40 A.M. here on the 1st of January 2013. I hope you all have a happy and productive and safe New Year. Keep those Mopars alive and running. Mick.
