  1. I will be here most of the weekend except for a few hours on Saturday afternoon. Jim Yergin
  2. Joe, I may have an extra generator with a wide style pulley (it may even be the one that was on the motor you now have). Let me check. If I do and you want it you can pick it up the next time you are out here. Jim Yergin
  3. Many years ago I cast a replacement knob for the seat adjuster on my '41 Plymouth wagon. I remember adding coloring agent to the mix to get the color I wanted. It was a very simple shape. I made a template one out of wood to use to shape the clay mold and I placed a threaded insert into the mix before it set to provide a way to screw it onto the adjustment rod. Jim Yergin
  4. Check out Tod Fitch's web site: http://www.ply33.com/Misc/speed "Thus it is reasonable to assume 3200 to 3400 RPM, as a maximum sustained RPM for the engine." Jim Yergin
  5. Joe, Brillman is over in the Valley in Mt. Jackson. I went there is person to get my battery cables. Nice guy and it was fun to see his workshop. Jim Yergin
  6. Joe, Congratulations!. BTW, nice looking engine hoist. Jim Yergin
  7. Correct. Jim Yergin
  8. Joe, I know the transmission is pretty heavy but before you install the clutch and bell housing, why don't you lift up the whole transmission and trial fit the transmission input shaft into the pilot bearing? I would lower the engine on the hoist to close to the ground so that you don't have to lift the transmission very far. I would think you could use your original transmission if you still have it instead of the O/D because it will be lighter. Jim Yergin
  9. Fred looks great. My experience is that you will be your own toughest critic. Everyone else will just admire your work, especially those of us who know what it take to get those results. Jim Yergin
  10. Welcome to the forum. When you get a chance why don't you fill out the profile section and let us know where you are located. Looks like a nice project. Jim Yergin
  11. Charlie, Did you ever get your "nifty P-I insulated mug?" Jim Yergin
  12. I dealt with them for parts for my overdrive transmission. I was very pleased with the parts and the customer service. Jim Yergin
  13. I am just curious. Were you able to recover the lug nuts that had come off, did you have extras, or did you "borrow" one from each of the other wheels to get yourself home? Jim Yergin
  14. Like Ed, I have done the same thing with my foot starter '41 Plymouth wagon. Jim Yergin
  15. Joe, Correct, it is the upper ones. Jim Yergin
  16. Joe, That is what the other two are for. They tap into the vacuum line to the wipers. Supposed to provide vacuum to the wipers even when you are accelerating. Jim Yergin
  17. If you click above on "Return to P15-D24.Com" then go to "Downloads" you can download a copy of the Borg Warner Overdrive manual that provides directions on disassembling the later model overdrive. I would think it would provide some guidance for your '38. Jim Yergin
  18. Very, very nice. Jim Yergin
  19. Joe, The Chrysler part number for those bolts is 871685. A search on www.partsvoice.com using that number shows that Collectors Auto Supply and Valley Vintage Auto Parts have them. Collectors' price is $20 and Valley Vintage's price is $4.00. The Valley Vintage web site is www.vvap.com Hope this helps. Jim Yergin
  20. I find that when I am low on oil, the oil pressure will drop when I accelerate. Jim Yergin
  21. Joe, I will be around. Just let me know what works for you. Jim Yergin
  22. Joe, I know it is probably more convenient for you to rent an engine lift near you but if you want to avoid having to return it within a set amount of time, you are more than welcome to borrow mine. Just bring your truck out and we can load it up. Use it as long as you need it then just bring it back. Jim Yergin
  23. I bought my '41 in 1988 looking like this and naively expected to only have to sand, varnish and paint. Discovered the wooden joints were totally rotten and ended up taking it down to the frame. A mere 20 years later I had it back on the road. Jim Yergin
  24. Tom, I couldn't find any when I was putting my '41 together. I ended up fabricating the fasteners for the trim surround on the front of my '41. I used pieces of sheet metal cut to the size and shape I wanted, drilled a hole put a bolt through it then tack welded it together. Then I ground the head of the bolt down so that the piece would slide into the trim. Worked well for me and the trim has stayed put for over a year now. Jim Yergin
  25. This is from the "Links" section of P15-D24.com: Atwater Kent Repo Fuel Tank Senders 508-792-9500 Hope that helps. Jim Yergin
