  1. Don I honestly do not remember buying a transmission from you or Richie. I do know I have never sold any transmission's of any make or the like. If you say that I have a transmission that I got from you in the last three years, and I need to pay you, I will not argue with you and pay for it. Most of my life I have always given away or just lent items to ole car owners since I do not like being an sales person of these parts. For years I was an physical fitness "nut" type of person, then one morning I was struck by a car ( which failed to stop at an inter-section ) while riding my bicycle. I had an injury produced stroke. I do not sling my arm or drag a leg. I can not dance or ride a unicyle due to balance issues ( I could do this very well up to the stroke time ). I say this so some of the readers who have limited knowledge of this can ask someone who has more knowledge of this and will be able to understand. I hope none of you ever go through what I now live with. I just went to look for an "M-6 Transmission". Yes I have one. How much do I owe you ??? If you feel as if I may be "dragging my feet", please remind me what I need to do. I am not angry with you for showing me that have problems, it is not your fault that I may now have them. 2. Richie I just sent an email to another. As of this moment I do not know what we had to do with each other. Here is part of the email. " ... I just read all the sagga of this and see I am now marked as a scum-bag. In last April, three years ago I had an massive stroke and spent 12 days in the IC Ward here in the Colo Spgs Hospital. After that they had me in the Stroke Re-Hab Ward for almost three months. Some parts during this time I needed my wife to help me out with what I was doing and etc. I still rely on her for "blank periods" that may have happened in the last 3 1/2 years during that period. " If something has happened that has left you feeling that you was wronged during that time. please contact me ( this may mean "again" to you ) and let me know what I should do. Another Issue I see that I was pinged for not having to much to say of about me on the personnel part of this site. Instead I have always said with every posting that I am Rodger and that I live here in COS. From time to time when others have said they are on the road, I have openly stated the door is open and they can stay here. Rodger & Gabby COS
  3. Hola Guys I believe the issue has been solved. If any of you want the details, just email me ( not PM ) and I will send them to you. Rodger & Gabby COS
  4. Hola There I purchased four "baby moons' to put on my De Soto. Once I got them, I felt they looked "wrong" for an De Soto. Then my neighbor across the street saw them one day when I left the garge door open. One was removed from the original packaging and it fit his 1949 1/2 five window "pilot house" wheels as if it was made for them. His son wanted to give them to his Dad for Christmas ( along with a MoPar 6 volt radio that I have ). I still have the "baby moons". ( ... Due to the Christmas request on the radio, I had it completly re-built for Christmas ). Rodger & Gabby COS
  5. Sir We went away and just got back. I want to think you for the scans. The first page is the answer that made me happy. Rodger & Gabby COS
  6. Hola Banning Person Here is an link for some 1953 Plymouth Hy-Drive information ( ... http://www.allpar.com/mopar/hydrive.html ). Do take note it also has an link to the parents M-6/ Fluid drive. Our M-6 shifting De Soto has the 3.5 ratio rear axle and 215 x 75 x 15 tires ( they fit correctly in the "spare tire well"). Rodger & Gabby COS
  7. Hola All For a while MoPar made and sold the MoPaR 800 Model Radio. These all have the seven control buttons as the 802's. Are there any of you that has any factual information on this radio ??? I had one completly re-built for my neighbor's "to be" Christmas Gift, that never happened. Rodger & Gabby COS
  8. Hola Pick-up Truck Person If you had to take "baby steps" all day long your travels would be limited too. It's that 4.10:1 ratio. The closer to 3.9 or to 3.5 you go the lessor the engine rev's. But as you do this the carrying ( aka load ) and towing amount goes down. Rodger & Gabby COS
  9. Hola Kevin The short blocks are the 23 inch 218 and 230 cubed engines. The long blocks are the 25 inch 228, 236, 251 and 265's in cube's. Just measure the lenght of the head to know long or short. There is an machined boss near the generator which will show the maker of the block and the size. Due to several dozen good reasons, the original engine may have been pulled and the replacement could have been an _______ from 19____ . Rodger & Gabby COS
  10. Hola There Was the Chrysler long block always used with this series, or is there an since 19_____ production starting point ??? Rodger & Gabby COS
  11. Hola To All I again will be at the same location at this swap meet. The in-door space is from an member of the Rocky Mtn W.P.Chrysler Restro Club. If you do stop by, look for an white pop up tent. I have the front bumper from my gone away 1967 300, but no 1947 Plymouth ones. Last year some folks that I know left their winter jackets with me while they where in the meet. This time I'll take some hangers. Rodger & Gabby COS ps 9-10 Feb 08
  12. Hola Ed This subject has been on my mind since you started it. Then I remembered that I have had an 1934 Chrysler News, AirFlow Extra. This original flemsey & thin eight page printing has been with me several years now. All I rebember is it showed up in the mail one day several years ago. Here is some of the scans that I have done of it. Rodger & Gabby COS
  13. Hola Class I have known about Bill for about ten years now. He may have only "joined" this version of the board ( like myself ) because he was going to exploid if he did not answer the question. If you happen to have or have an interest in the Imperial Division, the Forward Look era MoPars, The De Soto's, the Post War Chrysler's ( 1946 - 48 ), the 1961 - 71 Dodge Trucks or whatever, Bill reads the postings. There has been a couple of times I have asked him directly about an engine or whatever cause I knew I would get the "real deal" from him vs ... I beleive ole Joe once said. Me thinks to ask him about his vehicles is like asking the local Judge if they have an Black Cape. Rodger & Gabby COS
  14. Hola Ed When dis-counting the 323 cubed straight eight, remember they were only in the Saratoga's ( aka low end New Yorker's ), New Yorker's and the Imperials. The Common Chrysler ( Royal's, Windsor's or Traveler's ) with the six was priced and marketed to an potentual customer that had less income. The farm hand or clerk at Penny's ( and most other folks ) did not have enough income for one of these cars. As you know the De Soto's were moved to be above the Dodge's and below the six cylinder Chrysler. This lasted until the "cheap FireSweep" with the 122 inch wheel base of 1957. Rodger & Gabby COS
  15. Hola !!! I did this all for learnings sake. Thank You. Rodger & Gabby COS
  16. Hola All I have tried to down size an scan from the De Soto Parts Catalog that I have. How do you go from 233.4 to 121.nuthin kb's ??? Rodger & Gabby COS
  17. Hola Tim I looked for this person's name, type of vehicle or anything that would help to solve his question. The only hint is the "p15estep". Going with this, is to say the car is the Plymouth only rear bumper and the 1947 Chrysler bumper will stick out on each side with the Plymouth mounting brackets not matching the wider holes from the Chrysler bumper. The other way if this is true with his car is to keep the Chrysler rear bumper and mounting brackets intack and then try to adapt the assembly under the rear deck where it is not seen. Rodger & Gabby COS
  18. Hola All If you want to have an engine that is light weight, some what modern and performed, think of the 3.9 V6 that Dodge used in Vans, 1500 Pick-ups and the Dakota's. They started off as an 1986 2 bbl carb and use the same transmissions as the 273, LA 318, 340 or 360 V8's. Since the engine is short, the weight on the front is moved to the back some ( no changing of the front spring rates and wearing the front suspension as the Chrysler boat anchors already mentioned ). But if one just needs to pull the six, ... I still like the 6 volt De Soto V8's that are lighter than any Chrysler V8 of the same era. Rodger & Gabby COS
  19. Hola 48 Plymouth Person The other part of the gear ratio part is that your engine needs this ratio to have peak torque in the "window" of vehicle speed usage. An 2.76:1 gear ratio may have your thoughts purring along at 75 MPH, but can your engine have enough sauce to keep it there over hill & over dale ??? Look for an 2 bbl carb & intake manifold and etc from an 1956 or newer 230 engine. If you change to an De Soto or Chrysler long block, it may handle your thoughts better. Rodger & Gabby COS
  20. Hola Tim and All I just looked at an P 215 x 70 x 15 ( radial ) "Cooper". These entry level car type tyres are not even rated for 800 pounds each. The P 215 x 75 x 15 series size are double that. That is why the 75's are better for towing. The P 235 x 75's on the Imperial are at 2350 pounds each. Rodger & Gabby COS
  21. Hola To Gary and All When your 218 or 230 was new they had an four paddle fan for the stardard vehicles ( maybe 17 3/4" diam/# 687 669 ) and an six paddle fan ( 18" diam/# 1122 445 ) for the HD, Taxi ( See De Soto ) and etc vehicles or the straight eight Chryslers/Imperials. But, ... me thinks if it is over-heating or running warm, you have another problem. Rodger & Gabby COS
  22. Hola Name-less 46 De Soto Person The reason for the larger diam of the V8, is the torque of the engine for the flat head six. Rodger & Gabby COS
  23. Hola Green Plymouth Person 1 ... In todays world if you want to tow, do it with an frame mounted unit, not the bumper unit of yester-year. 2 ... Use 75 series tires since they have an higher load strenght than 70's. 3 ... Your rear suspension and related parts may be at the end of their life. A new set of springs, shackles, shocks and any related parts will only help you. Then do the front part next. 4 ... when your car was new, there was an OEM six blade HD cooling fan available. MoPar used the same part number until the end of the flat head six or with the V8', until the start of the Corperate V8's ( same part number for both six's and eight's ). Rodger & Gabby COS
  24. Ah Ho Ho Ho Reg This is some times an "touchie" subject. There are members of this site who believe an better exhaust system is one that sounds better and there are members who believe that an better exhaust system is one that performs better in all manners. I am of the second group. I feel that louder sound is not performance and louder sound was not what our vehicles were known for back when. Performace has always been what our vehicles are about. Enough of that. The RPM's of our vehicles is not the highest. That means an larger diam pipe could mean " lazy air ". If this is so, then an larger diam exhaust system is not the greatest for an engine that is only driven as an regular vehicle. The exhaust on my vehicles is the same diam as the out-let of the exhaust manifold, to the rear tip. This is as an performance vehicle would be since the average vehicles exhaust system is flared at the exhaust manifold to the manifold size. The smaller diam pipe flared at the manifold end was done as an cost savings to the mfg'r. I have an extra exhaust manifold for the 236 to one day make into an dual exhaust maniflold. When this happens, it will be with the diam of the out-lets to an twin in-let/single out-let muffler. Rodger & Gabby COS
  25. Ah Ho Ho Ho Bob, Ed and All I too agree with the both of you, It seems as all take care and watch out for each other. Here in our area there is an meeting of what is going to happen before we "head out". Maybe some have never been with an car club travel and they are basing their expierence with the local Harley Group. Rodger & Gabby COS
