  1. Good idea, did mine, as you can see. However, I still prefer to see where you are to what you have. In case you list 4-5 cars in "location" and thus omit the whereabouts, I consider this development to wrong direction. One can also list the vehicle details in the signature, see mine... /Pekka
  2. "Stance" is pretty low - maybe the frame is stuck in the snow? - You could try to remove the snow from below "the vehicle" and give it a good push while the driver gives "full throttle"... Then again; You could leave it as it is and list it in eBay as you said: "Extremely rare 52 Kaiser Hyperborean, Starts and runs good but can't get it to move... - no shipping, pick up only"
  3. We in up north Finland are living the first hour of 2009 right now. Happy New Year 2009 to all of the great folks at P15/D24 forum! Thank you Bob for sharing the spaghetti at Fred & Red's - Nice set up for special meal, riding in style! /Pekka
  4. Thank you Tim for the kind words - I like the narrow white stripes myself also. Not to mention they are far more affordable to wide white wall tyres. I actually added period accessory stainless beauty rings and replicated the painted narrow white stripes on the original body color steel wheels. Now the wheels are as I want them to be.
  5. Frankie, They were on when I bought the car from Chicago two years ago. The heads read "Waunakee, Detroit". I love the looks of those guards - Only sorry that they are WELDED on the original bumper guards and the chrome of the originals is poor...
  6. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2009 to all of the good people at the P15/D24-forum Warm regards from up-North, Uncle-Pekka
  7. Hey Joe, (as a Hendrix digger I always wanted to start a post like that...) I did basically the same job you're asking - only I had a good trim and bad glass (laminated layers coming apart). I posted a thread of the job an year ago... http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=7474 /Pekka
  8. I need to know, what is a fair rate per mile for a car transport in North-east states. This would be a single car trailer pulled by STW or SUV, distance less than 200 miles round trip. The car to be moved is a driver, but not street legal. Have the rates changed much from June to November?
  9. Is this boat tacho 6V device? What about 6V tacho's in general? - I suppose they are hard to find? I cannot really recall ever having seen one...
  10. I've bought (several) used Unity 6V spotlights from evilBay, but have not yet installed one. Please let me know, where is the best location to drill from inside the car. As Kevin remarked, there is tight space btw. door A-post and windshield frame. However, there is a triangle of flat area btw. dash, A-post and windshield, is that spot too low to go throught for the spotlight handle? Would be really useful to see some detail photos on the dash -A-post area of spotlight mountings. Thanks in advance, /Pekka
  11. OT continued... Yep, Briggs made bodies for Chrysler already in the beginning of the 30's and all through until Chrysler bought them in early 50's. The story was covered in "Hemmings Classic Car" volumes May '08 & June '08. Sad epilogue was, when Chrysler took over, they destroyed the well preserved factory history archieve in 1960 - All old models, records, blueprints and photos were burnt by an order of a cost savings bean counter.
  12. Brian, Send your car model, year and main colors of the upholstery to SMS Auto Fabrics and they will send you very detailed quotation with cloth samples. My friend in Finland just bought headliner & carpets for a 1949 Dodge there. Link: http://www.smsautofabrics.com/ OT: I read a history of Briggs on Hemmings Classic Car (Aug.08 or some other issue out this summer...) There was interesting cost history when they made bodies for Henry Ford: Briggs made the complete upholstery for 1931 model A fordor sedan for 5.75 USD cost, their "margin" was 57 cents per car. Henry was a hard bargain, but in spite of this Briggs was the company who survived the depression era with smallest losses in the industry. They made negative result on one year only.
  13. Rustoleum, whatever - It still looks great!
  14. I sure do like the DeSoto grille style - Even painted over and without the bumper, it looks good (the purple coupe). Summer seems to go on still in Tennessee - nice sunshine. Thanks for sharing great pictures! EDIT/P.S. Were there drinks offered at this show? Who was the benefactor, Mr. Jack D.? - just curious
  15. Beautiful morning, nice landscape and a stylish coupe - what more can one ask? Good color in your car - what is the code/name?
  16. 'Ball, You are going to replace the rear axel as well? - check your mail box for p.m. /u-P.
  17. Clean patches, good going. You have already pulled the engine & transmission, I see... Pls post some pics of the now idle flattie! /Pekka
  18. Has he landed yet? - seems like a giant leap (for an Overland)...
  19. Marines? Well, that explains it all: They are loading the land transportation devise onboard, but the timber was too short for full lenght boardwalk...
  20. Sometimes it is hard to find ones true identity...
  21. It is looking kinda sad... ...oh well, I guess I would too, if someone did the same to me as what was done to that poor old thing...
  22. Oukki-doukki, as the people are known commonly speak in Ämerica. I will wrest in peace knowing the spares are available...
  23. Oh Brother, wh're are thou'... Who am I to judge your deeds (how ever hideous they may be...) Anyway, what about the original parts to be tossed? Will you part with the engine you are going to pull out? Sincelery, Pekka the Vulture
  24. I guess I should have added to have the car pulled into the garage, not backed in. Then if the overhead door is open, the exhaust goes out the door. Also, you really don't have to sit in the car. I just start mine up and let it run while I'm doing something else in the house or outside. I don't sit in the garage with it until I'm ready to turn it off. If I do stay in the garage I also open the side door and let the air circulate. That said, I do have a detached garage so none of the fumes go into the house. If you have an attached garage I'd move the car outside the garage to let it run so you don't fill up the house with exhaust fumes and carbon monoxide. Sorry, but I could not resist commenting your conversation; "Is it bad to run a car indoors?" -"No, it does not seem to hurt the car at all!" I knew you are not that suicidal, but the pitch line were just too good to leave alone.
  25. I would not either expect there is any risk to harm the car by running the engine in the garage. However, sometimes the human spectators are known to have fainted or in extreme passed away... ...then again: there is also a known risk for similar headache when enjoying our favorite drinks... /pekka
