  1. Is it common to find this kinda mistakes on the titles? On the Illinois title of my D24 it was recorded as 1946 model. I first wondered why it yet had 15" rims, then I realised the serial number was one of the last D24's made. I wrote to Chrysler Historical Collection, address as found on P15-D24.com. I received very friendly and thorough letter by Mr. Jim Stimac of CHC confirming my suspect: "31229949 was one of the last of the D24 models, could be late 1948 or early 1949". Mr. Stimac had even took time to find out my car's original paint code and enclosed copies of the factory serial number lists with the letter. Anyway, the title had wrong year on it, also the previous owner belived he was selling a 1946 Dodge. To me it does not matter, but I registered the Dodge as 1948 car in Finland.
  2. Uh, Unkka was at work when you guys were getting ready for the big slaughter. (Came home 10PM just before the game) Well, as if my memory serves me right, we did not exactly kicked US butt's, but actually quite the opposite (and I do not refer to what's on the other side of butt...) Alltogether one shitty Friday...
  3. Hey, Your car looks just great - Congratulations for the deal! I like the color as well - I suppose mine was originally close to that shade. "Lullaby blue" Location of the radio antenna is unusual. Usually it is mounted on the cowl btw. hood and driver side a-pillar.
  4. "Does my better half support the hobby?"... Who the f**k told you that I'd be a schizophrenic?
  5. Sales director for industrial gear reducers, I work for Moventas IG. This is business to business sales, very much application engineering based, thus also my education is university degree in mechanical engineering. Our biggest customers are in Fiber&Paper, Mining&Minerals, Wind-&Hydropower machinery OEM's. We have bases in States as well; Greenville, SC; Portland, OR and Big Springs TX - Cambridge Ontario in Canadian side of the border.
  6. For my part I have to say I have not came across any better car forum in the web but this. The people for most are laid back and straight forward, very easy to talk with. I've got very thorough answers for all my technical questions in very short response time. Also lot of invaluable hints where to get parts etc. Some of the fellows have even helped me to get parts from salvage yards or their own storages, which is great value for an over seas builder like I.R. I consider the regulars as my friends, I have to scan the forum a couple of time every week just to see what the guys are chatting... I strongly encourage each & every low profile hangarounds to join the conversation - this site is for winners!
  7. Does anybody here remember the username & password required for the "factory litterature"-section of the New Yorker online club-pages? It was short and logical, coming from the web page name, but I forgot it... /Pekka
  8. Don, That means some serious action. Grrr... Randy, If the P15 was doing, say, 55mph - I am surprised that there are no bigger damage to the car... I mean, that is a BIG cat and that hide does not cover soft fat. It probably weights more than a thin man, 60...70kg? I would almost choose to drive off the road rather than over that kind of a cat...
  9. The shifter is just great, just put an eightball on top not to hurt your hand. By the way, did you serve your military in the pioneer batallion? I've heard those guys have really long arms having carried the land mines in the wood for the elelven months of service. kind regards, pekka p.s. the interior is "groovy". congratulations! (=sincerely)
  10. They are all smiling so happily... makes me wonder, where's the owner of the car? - a beaten up car and a dead cat, what's so funny?
  11. Yes, exactly - I also based my assumption on the very same Plymouth 2D. Of course it could be any year after '54, but there are several same color pickup trucks in the back row, which could be new at the time... Therefore I would not guess, say, 1959... However, Ahem, I kind of asked for conversation over the Kaiser... Here in North Europe Kaiser seems to be the most long gone of all dead marquees. Very few left, very few people know or appreciate them. On top of all they had assembly lines in Holland and Israel, resulting vague reputation. "not really an american car". The henry J's made in Haifa Israel were all crap - at least that's what my father & all other senior craftsmen been telling me. On the other hand the fifties Kaiser Manhattans are really good looking cars. Also nice interiors - I wonder are they after all so bad?
  12. I would also guess 1954 like Don C. Anyway, the sedan in the 2nd row, 2nd car from right to left. Is that a Kaiser or what?
  13. I have started with toothpaste using electric brush. That's very gentle method, does not harm surface any way. Most knobs come out clean & nice, finally wash with warm water. If there's dirt left, I do the same using abrasive sink washing detergent, e.g. CIF The next stronger would then be chrome polish paste, again applied by electric teeth brush. If the knob does not come clean after this, it's wasted anyway.
  14. "I do."
  15. Once upon a time in a german bierstube; "Those leather shorts sure look stupid on a big man like you"
  16. "Clear off skinhead, I am certanly not going to toss you a smoke!"
  17. "This is your captain speaking..."
  18. Faschinating web page! Thanks for sharing. I suppose Plymouths were not very common hearses. The 1948 Chrysler combination hearse is the most impressive, but still I find the '62 Pontiac & '65 Newport ambulances the most beautiful (=Most desirable for me). The P15 Landau hearse is sure ghastly, would I dare to say, ugly...
  19. Hi Shell, Good to know that the crusher has not got the goodies, at least not yet. Let's all hope and hold thumbs up that the daughter or the son will carry on the yard. The forum members will need that stuff. There are some nice parts from that yard even here up North Finland, thanks to you, Shell. I've been buffing and painting the frames, but will install only after I get the car painted (hopefully in summer coming...) Take care, Pekka
  20. Ok, No offense - I was sincerely wondering the price. You are also right, that Langdon's are plain, the coating costs more. /Pekka
  21. I might be talking a hole to my head, but I wonder why to pay $850 for these Phillips double exhaust manifolds, when Langdon's are selling similar repro casts at $340... Are the Phillips' superior in some respect, or are we supposed to pay for the logo? http://www.stoveboltengineco.com/acartpro/category.asp?catcode=44 sincerely, Pekka
  22. Thanks Robin, It looks like the very same place. It is located south from Berlin, close to border of Poland. Ferries sail to Rostock, here's a route to drive to this meet, road E55/E36:
  23. Is international shipping available for the hood ornament?
  24. LuckyD., Please share us the address of the website you found this. It appears to be shot on an airfield - in Germany? I love the swedish travelling style... even if a finn I am. Notice the exhaust pipe out from the rear wheel well in the swedish P15.
  25. Would it be cool to own & drive the 1st Belvedere! ' Really nice looking car...
