  1. That Ultra One stuff sure does an amazing job!!
  2. I have a 200 km/h speedo comming for my 68 T/C wagon. From a fellow in Holland who parted out a European export 68 chrysler 300. Was just wondering if I could maybe find a kilo speedo for my 48 Desoto.
  3. Just had a thought and was wondering if European or Australian cars were built in the 40's and 50's did any of them get a Kilometer speedo? I searched around in the archives and couldn't find an answer.
  4. Nail polish is a good choice since it is an enamel paint. Great idea though to put a sheet of paper down first behind the needle and then paint.
  5. Thanks for the pics and info on your Faux woodgrain. So once you lay out the darker color I guess you just leave it and wait for it to dry up? Did you use a special paint?
  6. Welcome...Very nice car with a very cool history!!
  7. I believe it was a stock rebuild. What I like is that it is complete, and was running and driving not long ago so I shouldn't have to rebuild any of the accessories. If I get a decent long block for a few less bucks and have to spend a bunch of $$ on rebuilding/replacing carb, fuel pump, generator, water pump, starter etc. I might be farther in the hole then just getting this one.
  8. Finally received some pics of one of the motors and trannies I've been contacted about. This is the 25" Flathead 6 from the 47 plymouth, with 3 speed tranny. Motor was rebuilt/freshened and comes complete ready to go. The guys asking $1000 Cdn, I personally think that it's decent price for what I'm getting. Oh also the exhaust has been modified to run a second dual exhaust. Not quite the same as the tri-split manifolds but good enough for now. This was a running and driving set-up and is ready to drop in. Thoughts and advice?
  9. Going to change the name of this thread to "Project 48 Desoto...Fernando" since it's already leaning towards a project thread.
  10. This info is from the "Brake light switch" thread. Blueskies posted a pic of the brake switch on his car. Aftermarket lever activated switch. And he also posted a link to an item from speedway motors.... http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Universal-Mechanical-Brake-Light-Switch,1972.html
  11. Thanks Rollie!! And I even like the heater valve upgrade.
  12. Nice Chrysler!! I just joined with a 48 Desoto. I have been wading through tons of old posts soaking up all kinds of info. I already have a Factory service manual in the "reading room". Good luck with the project and keep us posted.
  13. I'll add my $.02 cents Cdn...almost par with that US $.02 cents.... My perfect car....well that has evolved over the years. At one time it was a go fast, tubbed, noisy motor, rattle can car. Then it was a complete numbers matching, paint splotch, high shine trailer queen. Then it HAD to be a V8 with performance. And many other styles as well. Right now it's a good cruiser, looks decent enough, mechanically sound and you can park it at a show and forget about it, or fire it up and use it for your daily errands. If you come back and there is a new scuff or scrap you just shrug your shoulders and figure it will fit in fine with the other character marks.
  14. So is there a paper filter upgrade? How do you go about this? Do you retrofit the old oil bath filter housing or do you need to go with a new(er) set-up? Inquiring minds need to know.
  15. Hmmm...that's one I had never thought of....(wanders off to find a scrap of paper to jot this down and then loose in the top of tool box.)
  16. Well I fell through those stereo types. I'm just glad I'm the type of person who can grow and mature in the hobby and appreciate things from one extreme to another. After much searching and learning I think I'm going to leave the flat 6 in the desoto for now, and leave the hemi for another project OR for the desoto way down the road. Something different...I like different. There is a fellow locally who has a purple 46-48 plymouth 4dr that is tubbed and has a big F'N motor...haven't had a chance to catch it sitting but looks cool as heck!!
  17. Alrighty then.........
  18. Well here's how I came up with my handle..... It goes back to my high school days, around grade 10/11, I think. I was, and still am, into alternative heavy metal, thrash and such type music. I had a partner in one class who had the same musical tastes as I and one day we were thinking up odd names for a band. Well the name "Thrashing Pink Cows" came up and for some reason that stuck in my head. Fast forward a few years, and the days of on-line forums and such have come around and I needed a screen name, well the old "Thrashing Pink Cows" popped into my head, but I just couldn't use the "pink" so it became Thrashingcows.
  19. Yup up here in the Vancouver BC area it was probably 60-65-ish, dry and sunny, been that way for a few days now. Heck I heard someone fire up the lawn mower!!!
  20. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!! I was pulling my hair out with the newest post being at the top of the thread and the first WAY at the bottom. Opposite to every other forum I visit. I thought it was a quirk of this site but after Greg G's advice I got it changed and I'm much happier now.
  21. Like this idea for the brakes as well as for the clutch....Hmmmm
  22. All I can saw is WOW....And like Tim stated..."it's all about the need and will to do!"
  23. Man up here in the "Great white north"...not this year....it's 65-ish degrees F, with sun and cloud. Think I might take the wagon out for a spin.
  24. Knighthawk....You did an amazing job on the chop...Big thumbs up!! And did you go into how you did the faux woodgrain paint technique in another thread? Very interested on how you did it...I have some idea but would like to be sure.
  25. So do you cut from the outside in...or the inside out? Great idea!!
