  16. If you go with the 225/75R15, the steering wheel will take more effort at slower speeds than the 215/75R15...if you want a smoother ride, go with a passenger car tire rather than a truck tire (P215/75R15 rather than LT215/75R15). As for brands, that kinda depends on how much you will be driving the truck...cheaper tires typically will wear faster, transmit more road noise, have less traction on cold and/or wet surfaces, and may be more prone to separate in less than 3 years. I'd stay away from Chinese or Indian tires as they may be cheap but they may give ya trouble sooner than ya want. Most domestic tires rated 35k-45k miles will probably be the best value
  17. from allll the Law & Order I've watched over the years, I'm wondering if the school kid made the mistake of signing his work...?
  18. I worked at a Firestone dealer when I was in college and management did not care where the marks lined up, just get the customers out the door asap was their mantra. I got barked at on a few occasions cuz I would get caught rotating the tire on the rim to line up the mark to the valve stem, or as my manager called it, "lollygagging"...when my naïve self would try to explain what I was doing, I would get the DGAF corporate motivation and just slap the rest of the tires on the rims...this is why I tell people to go to tire stores when they are not busy, cuz management will not be cracking the whip on techs to just get the cars out the doors. Back at the Firestone, we had a customer with a cherry Formula Firebird and a sweet Bonneville SSE that he would bring in to get serviced, always on Sunday mornings before noon, and he would request that I do the work, probably cuz I'd be the only one not hungover and I tried to do a good job. So choose wisely...
  19. I agree with Merle, ya might want to verify your rim dimensions before committing on a tire size as a lot could have happened to that truck in the last 67 yrs...my early '48 has been in the family since new, but nobody recalls the engine being replaced with the '55 Plymouth 230 that has been in it since probably the 60s
  20. Ya might want to get the tires mounted when business is slow so they can take their time...if you can swing it, bring them one wheel at a time instead of the whole car. It'll take longer but the technicians might do a better job on the tire and ya won't have to worry about any damage from left hand thread torqueing
  21. I posted a link to the hamb of a picture of a Tucker Torpedo at a used car lot back in the day that drew an unexpected warning response. I have tried a search on this site for some clarification on the issue of posting external links, as I have seen warnings to not post external links on other websites (external links affect bandwidth or sumthin'ruther). I had been posting links in an attempt to not max out my data limit on attachments. As I would like to get with the program, I am looking into getting away from small attachments and posting the image urls from an image hosting site. So I am wondering what the rules are on posting external links as I could not find that information in the FAQ or the help topics...did I miss something?
