Mine came with my Bunn coffee maker, it is a little less than a 1/4" in diameter at its widest. It is made of a closely bound spring with a tapered end. I will try to get a picture of it tomorrow. I will also try it out on my car first. It might add a bit of extra flavor to java. Eric

Greg, Thanks, didn't think of that(the rust and scale). I have a little spring coil tool that is for cleaning or deliming my Bunn Coffee maker. I will try that. Good idea about back flushing thanks.

I am pulling off my manifolds so I can address the manifold heat control. The manual sure comes in handy because locating the block drain was hard. I attemped to turned it counter clockwise which didn't seem to help. I tried clockwise and it came out? Nothing seemed to drain from there. I forged ahead and I did get some fluids out of the manifold when I undid the bolts. Which is the plug suppose to turn? I was lucky no broken studs. Two of the bolts the hold the manifolds together snapped off and I cut off the exhaust pipe since those bolts were frozen and it seemed easier than putting heat to it. I think I am going to cap off the opening between the two manifolds. I would hate to get it loose and have to go through this again. It actually wasn't too bad considering I have never done it before. Eric

Well, I e-mailed him that I was going to walk away from the deal. He was upset because I had given my "word" but being a lawyer he was used to people like me. Oh, well. So it goes. Thanks for all of the advice. This is a good sounding board. If the car was closer it would all be easier. He had a two year suspension that is all I know. I do know that it sure isn't easy to get suspended. I know the car and the man are two different things but character does matter. Maybe he just had personal problems drinking, drugs etc. That wouldn't bother me as much as cheating people out of their money. A good lawyer is a great thing. I wouldn't toss them all in the same boat. The bads ones make a lot of money for the good ones. Again thanks. Eric

I found a car in Hemmings. I contacted the owner. He gave me the name of the garage that worked on it. All sounded very good. The pictures were good. He is a lawyer. That made me a bit nervous. That doesn't sound fair but they worry me. I decided to google his name. I discovered that he was suspended by his state's law board for two years. I couldn't find out his violation of ethics. The details are all buried in case studies that can only be accessed by members of the web sites. It must have been bad or atleast interesting because it is cited many times. I have even booked a flight to pick up the car. He is very friendly on the phone BUT!! Damn. Hard call for me to make because the car seems very nice. Do I back out , do I ask him about the suspension? Thanks, a bit off topic. Eric

Here in Western Iowa we have red squirrels. I found one on the ground two years ago, sleeping in my brush pile. He must have been knocked out of his nest. I bent a peice of tin to make a shelter and he survived. I can tell it is him because when I open my back door 10 other squirrels will go running off and heads towards me. He scares the crap out of our cats. Near the Omaha Airport there is a large group of black squirrels. I have never seen a white though. Eric

This is as close as I have been to belonging to a club. I like this forum, very casual, a lot of great advice, and some very helpful people. Some clubs seem to be cliquish, probably natural. I regularly buy the English magazine "Classic & Sportscar". It has a wide range of cars and they follow people with their cars as they drive and rebuild them. Not just top dollar cars but cars "average joes" can afford. I like the attitude they have. Robin from the UK could probably expand on this. I wonder if their clubs are like this. Just a straying thought. eric

Tim, definitely states that they were marked p17s. The author though also claims that Studes had the bullet nose in 49. I think 50 is the first year with the bullet nose. I like the looks of my P15 because the styling really is prewar. The P17s are cool cars but are not real forward looking. The shoe box ford really looks a lot more modern. I am also very fond of Studes. My first car was 51 bullet nose. eric

Do, the price is pretty good where it is now. If there isn't any major floor rust could be a good deal. I like the 4 doors. I also would like to have a coupe, and a wagon and . . . well only so much room and funds. Eric

I am in Sioux City and I don't even want to know how much snow we have had. My snowblower died last year and I keep telling myself that shoveling is good for me!!!. I am getting some ice damming which I have never had at this house. I have been here 18 years. Last weeks snow was wet and a real back breaker. This weeks has been lighter but so far the ind has made it a waste time shoveling. March is the brek through month. No matter what happens , you can see light at the end of the tunnel. I am looking forward to Spring when I can get my car back on the road. Eric

Grahams in the late 30's used a super charger on their sixes. How effective would this be? Even a small boost would help and would not mean much alteration. (I think)Probably has been brought up before. So to think about. Any ideas out there? Eric

I went thru you archive. I especially like you "Lone Eagle" Lindberg. Probably would upset some. He definite a Loner. His own wife thought him cold and distant. The few ideas he got in his head outside of flying were not very sound. Your work reminds me of the sparce early 60s "modern" advertising, a certain flatness. I had about 90 years worth of National Geos at one time and I loved the ads, they say as much about us anything. keep your nose to grindstone and have plenty of bandages handy. Eric
