  1. 48 not $8!!
  2. Here's one with an interesting engine. 3 carb setup. No bids, looks OK in the pics. I am not interested, way too far away. But could be a good starter for the right person. The Seller doesn't really offer much detail on the engine. Eric
  3. Tim, Norm thanks. Both ideas are good. I am not sure if the Junk Yards will loet anyone walk through them around here. If they pull the item, it costs more. The older somewhat more friendly junk yards are a thing of the past around here. There used to be one where the old guy would first ask if you were going to steal anything, then he would say go ahead. He also had a herd of goats in the yard to keep weeds down. Muchas gracias, Eric
  4. I want to make one of these for my wipers. I stopped in to an Auto Parts Store and asked about a vacuume valve they looked at me as if there was something wrong with me. (there might be, but that's another story). They said they needed a part#. Does anyone know what I should ask for? I want to use a juice can. What does one use to seal the fittings? Silicone? Ane does the valve go from the can to the manifold so it sucks from the can? I looked at a few on Ebay and they all went higher than I wanted go and I don't want a plastic one. Thanks, Eric
  5. I agree with Tim, Dwight's car is great looking. I love the color. Seems so Period Correct. I am jealous. Eric
  6. Some of the more forward thinking mechanics have gone to the "Magic 8 Ball", so I have been told. Eric
  7. Kind of a cool idea. But does it work? Eric
  8. Norm, Thanks. If I had it right before the carb it would be easy to replace. I have a feeling I could be replacing it quite often at first. The outside of the carb is really shiny now. I washed the whole thing off. Again much thanks for the advice. Eric
  9. I took it apart and cleaned out the bowl. It was dirty. No giant chunks but a lot of little flakes. It was bit reddish too. Rust? There is not a fuel filter. Can I mount one right before the carb or is it better to have it before the fuel pump? Thanks, Eric
  10. Hemmings "Classic Car", June issue is filled with Dodges. There is a very sweet 1950 Wayfarer convert. The Options are really unusual. They say some nice things about the flat head engines too. Eric
  11. Kudos to you, I followed thread this and I learned quite a bit. Eric
  12. Chuck, keep the pictures coming. looks like you have a good start. Eric
  13. I haven't tried that method. It definitely has gas leaking when this happens. If I wait 15 minutes it starts right back up. I will pull the carb and try the cleaning others have suggested. The car isn't hot and itsn't boiling over like it did last summer. Thanks, Eric
  14. Today I drove the 48 about 5 miles around town and it quit running just as I got across some railroad tracks. Sure enough within 5 minutes a train came by. I opened the hood and gas was leaking from the carb. It is not the heat bypass because I eliminated that. After about 15 minutes it started back up and I made it home. The best I can tell is that it leaks around the accelerator pump linkage. Strange drove it 70 miles last week and no problem. I am open to any ideas. Thanks, Eric
  15. I guess turn signals were an option that only Party Members could afford!!.In some ways the Pink Cadillac is just as bad. Eric
  16. 15" rim, that would be great. Thanks, Eric
  17. My carpet is just about kaput. No logo. I see the little felt peice under the spare. It still is in good shape. I contacted the ebay seller that Reg suggested. They will only sell via Ebay. So I have to wait until they post another. I am still looking for an original style rim for my spare. Thanks, Eric
  18. The plywood peice I was talking about sits on the side oposite of the spare and holds the jack. The carpet in my trunk area looks original, maybe just real old. It has a pattern to it. It is shot. I think I will go with Reg's idea. Do they still make Jute Padding? Is there something better besides the tin foily looking stuff? Eric
  19. This one is a mystery? maybe some sort of indexing device for cutting of threads. What happens when you crank it? Looks sort of like a dowel jig. Just a wild guess.Eric
  20. I always thought of those jacks as being "house jacks" good for holding up posts. Eric
  21. Reg, Thanks. I will contact them. I am remaking the plywood divider that sits on the driver's side in the trunk. It has delaminated. I at first thought it was home made but it is stenciled "Plymouth Sedan". Again much thanks. Eric
  22. I would like to replace my trunk carpet. I checked JC Whiney and it looks prety bad. I would like something that looks like it belongs from the era or even a rubber mat. Also I noticed that the spare rim is from a much later year. I am guessing these will be hard to find locally. Is there a source for these? Thanks, Eric
  23. Looks good, whatever metal work that needs to be done should be no problem for you. The work you did on your Lancer was suburb. Enjoy. Eric
  24. Good Luck with your Car. I was looking at your web page. The lancer is nice. The body work was beautifully done. You have some real craftsmen there. The Finish lanuage must be a language unto itself !! :) Like some other posters I would enjoy a photo of your new baby. Eric
  25. The only one of those that I recall hearing is "Tulsa Time". Here we have "Sioux City Sue", not a great song but covered by many in the 1940's and 50's. John Wayne a native of Iowa has smoe line in one of his Westerns "wilder than a night in Sioux City" or something to that effect. We were a jumping off place for Buffalo hunters , Black Hills miners and other low life!!. We became the county seat by the use of guns, locals took the ballot boxes and expressed their rights. Fun Place. Eric
