  1. Personally, I love it! I think it sets your car off and out from the crowds. Cool! As for the crink in the neck, my chop top has given me plenty of tight necks. BloodyKnuckles
  2. Very cool. You have stepped foot into the right site! You'll enjoy learning about your car from the "old timers" here:D . When you have time please post a few more pics of your car. Enjoy! BloodyKnuckles
  3. Man, I'm sorry about your luck. That sucks! I've been following your posts since the beginning and had looked forward to the result. I was happy to hear that you were running the flat 6. Things just didn't go your way. As for engine choices I would consider a carburated 318 Dodge if you would like to keep it a bit more modern. If you are interested in a little more vintage I would consider a Poly motor. I think other than a small hemi these engines are awesome and very much overlooked. Please reconsider the sbc. They are great engines but it's nice to see other just as reliable powerplants when you open the hood. Just my opinion. Good luck and do a ton of research. Things will work out just great. 4. That is an old timey water injection set-up that works pretty slick. I asked him to help me put one on my car. Maybe it's just a gimmick but I like it. BloodyKnuckles
  5. I can't stress to you guys enough how nice this car is. I have driven it and worked on it. It is such a great car for the price. www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=304477 I have been trying to get him to post this on here but he hasn't yet. Someone here should get this! BloodyKnuckles
  6. I run all 3 of the B&B's on my 218 intake and it seems to run very well. I've been running the set-up for about 4 years now with no real problems. I increased my fuel line size and installed a vintage fuel pressure regulator. So far, so good. BloodyKnuckles
  7. I think it looks perfect. I actually have a '51 Buick grill in my shop...hummm. Could you post a pic of your Plymouth? BloodyKnuckles
  8. Are the frames similar or almost the same? Is it just the location of the rear axle is different on the same frame? BloodyKnuckles
  9. I would think they would be the same. They sure look the same side by side but does anyone know the wheelbase for both cars? Thank you, BloodyKnuckles
  10. Thanks so much guys. That's the company I used and they were great! A friend just got an estimate for relining his clutch disc and rebuilding the pressure plate...$65 + shipping. That's what I paid over 4 years ago. What a deal! BloodyKnuckles
  11. MY '51 Plymouth came with lug bolts, '54 DeSoto...lug bolts. BloodyKnuckles
  12. I sent off my clutch a few years back to a place in Tennessee but forget the name. I believe I got the info here originally. Could someone share with me the phone number if they have it? Also does anyone have another clutch resource? Thanks, BloodyKnuckles
  13. Here is my original post; http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=11348 After many responses and tips I decided to grab my service manual and find out how to adjust the linkage. Within a whole 3 minutes all my problems have been solved. All this time I have been so frustrated and have not enjoyed driving my car. I never would have thought a simple adjustment would cure my problem. So I have to say a true from-the-heart thank you to all who responded. This is a wonderful board full of great, helpful and generous people! Thanks again. Now it's time to go for a burn and rack up all the miles I have missed out on!! BloodyKnuckles
  14. You are correct but I only did it after I sprayed the holes at night. Man that has got to hurt!!! I did forget the most important part....You have to kill them at night!! BloodyKnuckles
  15. While preparing to build a fence around our property we came across 9 nests in the ground. You have to do this at night!!!! We used 2 cans of wasp and bee spray in each hole. The key thing is to step on the hole to pack dirt in and close off the entrance. Be careful to only step on it lightly so as to not step into their living room (..if you know what I mean!!). Out of 9 nests we eliminated all 9 nests! BloodyKnuckles
  16. You guys are great!! You have eased my mind a bit. I will check the linkage this week and report back. Again, Thanks for all the responses. I appreciate all the assistance. BloodyKnuckles
  17. First of all I purchased the trans from George Ashe so I know it was rebuilt correctly. The problem I'm having is when I shift from first to second it doesn't want to go in unless I hit the shifter hard, sometimes very hard because of anger. Then when I try to shift from second to third it has to be shifted fast and it will grind a bit. If I try to shift it slow it just won't go in gear, sometimes. Now this problem is weird because it comes and goes. It will down shift as smooth as silk but not on up shift. The problem has been ongoing for a while now and it seems to be getting worse. I am thinking that it may be the syncronizers but why would they go bad after about 20,000 miles? Questions; Could it be the syncronizers? How difficult are they to replace? Can I find new ones? Could it be the linkage? Any bit of guidance here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, BloodyKnuckles
  18. Why don't you just take it like you did mine?? Rodney, that's great to hear. It looks incredible!! BloodyKnuckles
  19. You just don't get it, do you? BloodyKnuckles
  20. So that's how they got flattened out. I guess you'll never be driving my car again. Jeez, the nerve of some people! BloodyKnuckles
  21. Jesus, I think this is a bit too harsh. It's not like people are stuck hearing it for anything but a few moments (except when you are in the car but that's a bit different). I would have to think that we are all guilty of thinking about ourselves over others at some point, it's human nature. This is one of the few times I feel as if I should defend someones actions. The last time I checked we are all living in a free country, free to make our own decisions. This I feel is a harmless choice that will not hurt anybody so I would think we could lighten up a bit. No with that being said...I have cutouts and lakepipes on my '51 and they are way too loud in the car. I plan on eliminating the lakepipes and rerouting the open exhaust through the same tailpipes as my Smithy's. BloodyKnuckles
  22. This is what it looked like the day I bought it; This picture was right before he signed the title over to me; What an exciting day! Where it is now; It's taken alot for me to get it where it is now but it has been well worth it. BTW...I'm heading to Atlanta tomorrow for a show called the Dixie Fried. It will be about 600 mile round trip. Fun, fun, fun!!
  23. When I bought my car it wasn't exactly what I was looking for but I must admit that it was the best decision I could have made. It is the most reliable vehicle I have. It's usually the only '51-'52 at most shows or events. I love it's homely look. It's different than all the others. Almost all the replacement parts are available. Best of all it was the cheapest car I found. I knew what I wanted to do with the car as soon as I saw it. It has taken me a long time to get it where it is today but I'm happy with it. I have plenty more to do but I just keep poking at it. Get the car running well and make it safe for everyone. Repair the rust and enjoy it for a while. As you are enjoying it you will get all the motivation you'll need! BloodyKnuckles
