  1. This car might make an interesting replacement.....a V8 conversion that looks original on the outside. In Oklahoma. On epay. Starting at 8K with a reserve. Link to the ad.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plymouth-1948-PLYMOUTH-CLUB-COUPE-STREET-ROD-/330695669389?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4cfeff768d#v4-42
  2. Hi John. Good to hear from you again. You just gotta spend a little more time with the P15....to keep her happy.
  3. David Maxwell, a forum member, did a lot of research and then completed a body off restoration on his P15 fourdoor. Has pictures of upholstry and other things on his web page. Thought I'd post a link to that site for anyone interested in looking. http://www.angelfire.com/ca/bojeta/indexpage2.html Also......here's a link to the Allpar site with some history of the P15 and some other 40s Mopars. http://www.allpar.com/history/plymouth/1946-1959/plymouth-2.html Jim Benjaminson gives some useful info........like this...........The only noticeable change in the P15 Plymouths came late in November 1947. Beginning with Detroit-built Special Deluxe 11851594 and Deluxe 15251917, the factory began switching to 15 inch wheels and Goodyear Super Cushion 6,70x15in tires. Los Angeles- and Evansville-built cars didn't make the switch until December; Los Angeles with Special Deluxe 25036148 and Deluxe 26010991, and Evansville with Special Deluxe 20234249 and Deluxe 22063548
  4. Here's a link to blucars member page............ Should be able to PM him thru that I think. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/member.php?u=6666
  5. Yep.......this picture has become a forum classic (at least among those of us who recall when Christopher was an active participant). Far as I know, he's still up there on the "High and Lonesome" in the northwest.
  6. Here's a pic of those strips.......... Does it look like those skirts fit inside the wheel opening?? Looks like someone added some fender welting along the rear edge of the front fenders.
  7. I got one from Dave Kruse in Monrovia, CA. His email is krusn64@aol.com Phone (626) 358-3274. His price is $18.95 for the larger size needed on a P15 and other older models. Haven't installed it yet, however. He has numerous other rubber items also......including hood bumpers and door check rubbers.
  8. check with this fellow via pm.......he's a member on here...... blucarsdm. You need to look him up in the members listing. I believe he had some hood springs reproduced.
  9. Some guys are using Smithy's (or Smittys)....I think they come in 3 different lengths, with the longest being the most quiet and the shortest the loudest.
  10. Kevin, it's in the 900 block of S Main St. Not in the area I think you mean. There is the old area they've been rejuvenating called "Murphysburg".....plus some part of Main from about 1st St to 7th St.
  11. Went by the fire location this morning.....was still smoldering some and a couple fire trucks were still on hand. Main street still blocked off in the area. From the back side, you can see what portion of the building is now missing.....fallen in. Was vacant except for the small beer joint on the north end. I presume it's a goner now.
  12. After the tornado, the damage to the P15 convert initially totalled about $5,300. That's fixing a gouge in the trunk lid, replacing 4 pieces of stainless trim, a new top, and bodywork/paint. There could possibly be some more cost involved before its done. I agree with others that 2K doesn't sound like enough, and it may be closer to the 6k figure. Did each place itemize for parts and labor? I don't recall what your car looks like, was it up in real good shape or what condition? That may influence the price. Can the paint be matched? Is the entire grille damaged, or a portion of it? Probably needs at least good used bumper guards, assuming they were in decent condition. I would do some parts pricing on ebay and show them what sort of prices stuff goes for......as they may have no clue.
  13. A building built in 1900 caught fire tonite about 10 pm, and I imagine the damage is heavy. I think some of it was vacant......may have been a small bar in one portion. We saw flames from the parking lot of the club where I was playing. Went by the place on our way home, but the street was blocked off and both aerial trucks were in use.
  14. OR...........
  15. Don.....you might recall the old saying......"sometimes you get the Elevahtor, sometimes you get the Schaft".
  16. Had a bunch of storms around midnight last night that caused damage and two or three fatalities over our part of the country. There was a fair amount of damage in the Branson, MO area including some along the Highway 76 "strip" where many country music theaters are located. So, if you've been planning a trip to Branson, you might want to check before hitting the road. We only had a not too bad thunderstorm with some wind here in Anderson, MO where we're residing.
  17. If I think an email is B S, I can preview it once highlighted, down at the bottom of my screen without actually opening it. After getting quite a few of these I can pretty well tell which ones are spam. Lately some places are stealing real people's names and sending out advertising under their name.....including one lately supposedly from my brother in law. So, now I preview suspected items from them, too. The internet is good for lots of things......it's too bad there are so many devious people out there using it for their purposes, whatever they may be. No problems with this forum however. Some time back, a person told me you can delete a mail - causing it to disappear into cyber space and not even going to your "deleted" box. Highlight the message header that first appears, press the "shift" key down, then press the "delete" key. It then brings up a box about "do you want to delete this message?" requiring a yes or no answer. The answer of course is "yes". You might have to experiment a bit to become used to the process. Of course, if you accidently do away with a good mail....you can't get it back.
  18. I wonder if some previous owner decided to cover the back windows and make it a big "sedan delivery".
  19. Then, there's Kerrie McCarver Lewis, Jerry Lee's ex-wife, who now has her own band in the Memphis area. Met her and played harmonica behind her on a couple songs on a cruise two years ago. A pretty good singer in her own right.
  20. And.....if you like rockin' piano in the style of Jerry Lee Lewis, you need to see this fellow, Jason D. Williams. He bears a certain resemblance to Jerry Lee and plays in the same style. Does all those crazy bits like playing with his foot, jumping up on top of the piano, etc. He's been traveling around the country some lately, and has a website containing his schedule. We saw him a couple years ago in Kansas City, and again a couple weeks ago at a casino in W. Siloam Springs, Okla.
  21. Everyone, as far as I can tell, says BB is a real nice guy. He has slowed down in the last few years due to his older age and diabetes. He sits to play most (maybe all) of the time. Saw him and Buddy Guy in concert last summer in Lampe, MO near Branson....an outdoor ampitheater. He did about a 30 minute show. There was a big crowd on hand.....several said something like "we know he isn't what he used to be, but we love him and still enjoy seeing him."
  22. Hello Jeff. Welcome to the forum. Yep, that vehicle does have possibilities, depending upon what you like. I went to the carnut.com site and snitched a few pictures to maybe give you some ideas......... (click on the pictures to enlarge)
  23. That hantavirus is a bad thing alright...........it's defined this way....... han·ta·vi·rus n. (han´tah-vi″rus) A type of virus carried by rodents causing severe respiratory infections in humans and, in some cases, hemorrhaging, kidney disease, and death. Isn't there another type related to birds, and bird doo? You often find bird stuff all over a car that's been sitting for years. A long time ago, I bought a car that had been used as a chicken coop. Talk about a mess.....
  24. It works reasonably well as a cruise control on level ground. Uphill, it gets slow. Downhill.....kind of like a roller coaster.....just keeps on gaining speed, til you push the knob back in. Works fine and dandy for warming up the car. Isn't that what they used on farm trucks when hauling hay.....sort of put the truck on "auto pilot" so it would creep along and the driver could be tossing or stacking bales.
  25. Right Now......at least where we are here in MO at just after 8pm. In case anyone else is interested........ Mick Jagger currently performing. BB King And the biggest line of guitar players I've seen lately........
