  1. I read the mag from cover to cover the first day. If it wasn't for Plymouths, I wouldn't have my poorman's Woodie, PLYWOOD, most enjoyable all around car(read toy) i've ever had.
  2. What color?
  3. Hi Bob, PLYWOOD has original wheel covers that require the keeper pins attached to the rim. Since I was able to restore the oriignal rims with the keeper pins, I can still use my original hubcaps.
  4. Good idea. I have a new digital camera. Let me learn how to use it and I'll also photo document my annual trip to Wavecrest in Encinitas in September. I must say, I feel more condident having safer rims on the PLYWOOD. Stay cool Dennis, up in Barstow.
  5. Today, I retrieved PLYWOOD from Greenway Auto Repair in Phoenix where I had taken it to evaulate and possibly repair the rusty, pitted, rough and air leaking rims. The wheels were removed and then submerged in a big tub of water to check for any air leak areas. There were air leaks along the bead on two wheels and air leaks at the valve stem holes on the other two wheels. The tires were dismounted, the rims media blasted, acid dipped, neutralized and then wire brushed with a rotary power tool. Next the bead seal areas were smooth ground and sanded followed by primer coats and more sanding. Upon further inspection it was decided to bead weld each valve stem hole, redrilled it to a smooth round opening and sanding to complete a smooth surface. The rims were painted blood red and the result was unsatisfactory to the shop owner Bill, who owns several award winning street rods. He had the rims redipped and media blasted again and hand sanded smooth. The wheels were then sent out for powder coating in the blood red color. Bill took a special liking to PLYWOOD because she is so unusual and driven on a fairly regular basis. The tires themselves have some pitting in the seal area due to the time they were pressed against the rough rust surfaces. The tires are in good shape and we are waiting to see if the roughness will allow more air leaking. So far, there is no leakage and we think the tire pitting will dissipate with time. The rims look show quality and are as new and there is no longer any rough surfaces anywhere on the rims. The rims had also been inspected by a wheel guy at an alignment shop. If there is any leaks, I'll just get new tires. For now, my rims are safe, rust free and very nice looking. The total for all of this work was $650, I can keep my original wheel covers and I was given complimentary transportation to and from the facility which is 22 miles from my auto storage facility where I keep PLYWOOD and RED RYDER, a total of 88 miles. I was very pleased with the service and the results.
  6. Click "print" each page will be uniform in size.
  7. Moomeyes.com sells a reproduction fuel block for $60. Google: Nostalgia Fuel Block to see a oic of it; pretty cool
  8. Hey, I feel I got real lucky on the Bay by winning the auction for a very nice P15 Hood Ornament today. 220131320919. If anyone would like to have my current moderately pitted chrome, craze lines plastic, red paint on the sails (PO idea of an accent color) Hood Ornament for the price of shipping for your low dollar project, let me know. A donation to the webmaster would be appropriate.
  9. Breaks my MoPar heart!
  10. This particular hood "emblem" is way too nice for PLYWOOD; it would make her other trim pieces blush.
  11. I won this hood ornament: 220131320919 Paid 89 with a shipping fee of 7.93. It is in much, much better shape than the moderately chipped chrome, craze lines plastic with red painted sails(previous owners touch). If someone needs a low dollar P15 hood ornament, I'll give you my old one for the cost of mailing, in the same box I receive my new one. A donation to the webmaster would be a fair deal. Thanks for all of your support. This nicer hood ornament will add to my continuing enjoyment of PLYWOOD and all of the MoPar stories we share about shagging parts and helping each other.
  12. I thought I would comment on the group therapy discussion about obsessive compulsive disorder in regards to wheel covers being aligned in a sophmoric fashion until I remembered the wheel covers on PLYWOOD are 10 inchers on the back and 9 inchers on the front. Now, I am all jittery and perplexed. I think I better call my therapist.
  13. Heck Greg, just move in with Don C for a few months to see if you like TN.
  14. Just so I don't get into a bidding war with my fellow p15-d24 buddies, I am currently bidding on a p15 hood ornament (220131320919), have the high bid with 4.5 hours to go. Thanks. Charlie
  15. This is my favorite Pilot family story. What a fantastic experience to drive your grandpa in his old truck.
  16. Hi Ken, I sure hope you get to restore and enjoy your Dodge Woodie. Always enjoy seeing pics of it. Today, at an early morning swap meet at SoCal Speed Shop, I saw a very cool 1935 Dodge pickup, tan with dark brown fenders, mild street rod. Very cool old truck
  17. I used to live in WI. Currently in AZ, but a GBP fan, none-the-less
  18. Since I am trying to rehabilitate my rusty rough rims, I might as well get new radial tires for PLYWOOD. The radials I have are too high (read too tall for fender clearance) and too wide for the fenders and the rims. What size radials are any of you running on your P15's with 15 inch rims. As usual, much thanks. Charlie in the warmth of AZ
  19. Hi MoPar Buddies, the 15 inch rims on PLYWOOD are very rough and rusty on the inside. My tubeless tires keep leaking air because there is such a rough surface for a seal. I would appreciate your collective input as to which methods are available to rehabilitate my rims. Firstly, how do I make sure they are still structurally safe to restore and continue to use. In AZ, it is very dry, but I would still like to make them as rust proof for the future as is possible. I plan to have painted/powder coated the same fire engine red. So please share your advice, experiences and cautions in regards to rehabing rims. Thanks a great deal. Charlie in AZ
  20. Exactly. Rodney, when I drove PLYWOOD to CA for WaveCrest last summer in the AZ heat with nary a problem; everybody was amazed an old car and an old guy could make it. Good on you!
  21. Dennis, you should email Will in Prescott with your story. I'll bet he would love to hear it. Charlie
  22. Greg, I appreciate you recognizing this is not the forum to vent your geo-political frustrations secondarily to respecting you for caring about what is happening in the world. Had it not been for you and the interior drivers door pic of your beautiful black coupe, I would never have found the door panel three pointed star, which now completes PLYWOOD's interior.
  23. I come to this forum to get away from politics and other worldly concerns. May we please keep our web club house an "issues free zone"? Happy Fourth of July
  24. Also, I Googled: plymouth car shows I think you'll be delighted with what you see.
  25. Hi, this might be a good place to start: http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/thehistoryof/22860_mopar_muscle_club_directory/united_states_regional_clubs.html I googled "plymouth owners clubs south east USA"
