  1. There are no restrictions. Technically the Historic Registration is supposed to be for a vehicle you don't use as a daily driver but there are no restrictions as to where and when you can drive it. The only reason they even say anything about the lower use is because of the huge tax savings. My annual renewal is less than a dollar a year. There is no way for them to verify how much you drive it and again, there are no location or time of day restrictions. KRS 186.043 Historic vehicles may display an authentic Kentucky license plate, twenty-five (25) years or older, or a reproduction of such a plate, if the historic motor vehicle plate and the registration receipt are kept in the vehicle at all times.
  2. Kentucky allows it. You don't even have to register the plate. You can just put it on. You need to keep your current registration with you but you do not have to display your the vintage/antique designation. Kentucky did not issue a plate in 1947. You re-used your 46 plate and received a windshield decal for 47 showing you renewed. I have recreated the window sticker and printed it on specialty water-slide decal paper.
  3. I like it Jerry. similar to what I plan once I come up with a bumper. Slot the cover for the bumper brackets.
  4. I will eventually end up with a rear bumper but until then I created and added a rear panel. Once I get around to installing bumper I will cut slots for the bracket to extend through and keep the panel in place. I still need to wait for the paint to completely cure so I can buff it.
  5. Thanks, I have both electric motors.
  6. This is great information. FYI - The link is broken. Can you post the URL?
  7. I thought they were original.
  8. Someone must have upgraded years ago. The motors are old and electric but the manual refers to vacuum motor.
  9. A lot of these trucks don't have rear bumpers. I don't want to spend over $400 for one and brakets. Have any of you made your own delete plate for the rear to cover up the ends of the frame and dress it up a little. I have seen some elaborate ones with an area for the license plate and frenched tail lights. I just want some to fill that big empty space back there. If you did make your own do you have the pattern/template still with measurements?
  10. I could not find any reference in the Shop Manual. Is there any adjustment to the steering box? Can it be tightened or adjusted to remove some play in the steering?
  11. Did the 47 1/2 ton WC have rear fender welting
  12. I found a cheaper alternative than the aftermarket options for the body mount pads. I am a fan of DCM but to order the pads with shipping cost it would have been $34. I found these and thought it was worth a try. They arrived today and will work great. They are 4" X 4". You would need 4 and then cut them in half giving you 8 2" X 4" pads. You could probably get away with just two and cutting them into 2" X 2" pieces. The DCM pads are 2.5" X 2". They are the perfect material and thickness. Cost, including shipping was $11.82. Fast shipping. I ordered yesterday and received them today. Supply House rubber pads
  13. Thanks. I have a tray of various size bullet connectors. I will see if one fits and then test the motor before re-installing it.
  14. I have an original electric wiper motor in my 47 WC 1/2 ton. All the wiring was pulled out when I got the truck. I only see one external connection I am assuming this is the power supply and the ground is through the body of the motor and connection to the cab. Can somone confirm? I also don't see how I am suppose to make the wiring connection. The connector sticking out of the side of the motor is not threaded. At first I thought a wire would be terminated on that connector with a screw. Is it just a push in bullet connector? Can someone pull the cover off take a picture of the motor?
  15. I just purchased tailgate chains for my 47 WC. I didn't have any on the truck when I bought it so I have nothing to compare them to. I also have a 54 Chevy truck. On the 54, when I open the tailgate the chains are the perfect length so when I connect them to the tailgate it holds it perfectly level with the bed. My new chains for the 47 are long and allow the tailgate to open fully hanging all the way down point toward the ground. I plan shorten the chain to support the tailgate but was wondering if the original came the correct length or the chains I bought were just a generic length to fit multiple models of truck.
  16. I will figure out the size and get some flat headed machine screws and counter sink them flush. Thanks again.
  17. I did just find this image. It looks like it does just have regular bolts going through the wood into those fasteners or did you do something different?
  18. Ed, your post was very helpful. I can figure it out from here except for one question. Across the front of my bed I am not sure what should be bolted in. There is an angle that is obvious the ends of the bed boards sit on. The part that has me confused is the fasteners. The angle has fixed threaded receivers/bolts. For all the other bolts they are carriage bolts that sit in the square holes of the metal bed strips and two corner strips. You can not use a carriage bolt on the these. Do you just run regular bolts through the wood into the fasteners? Is there a metal strips that run on top of the ends of the boards?
  19. Do any of the various manuals show details for bed assembly and placement of the cross members? Something similar to this but one that shows the measurements and placement of the bolts to hold down the bed and cross members. I am willing to purchase a manual but I am not sure which one to buy. I have a "W" Series Shop Manual and it does not have this information.
  20. Got it. The bumper bolts at the top and the spacer does go at the bottom. I have it installed. Thanks.
  21. Does someone have a picture of how the front bumper is installed? I have the bumper and the short (2-3 feet) bracket. Trying to figure out how the two peices mate up and then bolt to the frame. If I look at it correctly, the bumper has 4 bolts on top. 2 just bolt the bumper to the frame. The other two are longer and connect to the top of the bracket. The bottom of the brack attaches to the bottom of the bumper with two botls?
  22. I was having a hard time locating front hubs for my 47 WC. He pulled 2 from his stock pile of original parts and reconditioned them for me at half the price everyone else wanted for the few I could find.
  23. Drive train is 100% stock. It would be a slow and steady race.
  24. I can breath easy now. They were changing over their phone system. They are back up and running.
  25. Yes, I placed an order over the weekend and it shipped and is scheduled for delivery today. I called yesterday and no issue. I tried calling them this morning and the number is disconnected.
