  1. Them Ole Fords need a Dodge spension just to get it right....lol
  2. My 2015 Hemi Powered Ram is relatively fast but with its weight that takes 395 hp.....lol The Iron Duke IMHO is not the best donar for say a P15 or a D24. The engine at 90 hp at 4000 rpm and 128 ft lbs of torque at 2600 rpm would be a dog in a 3200 lb car. The 1980 Skylark has a curb weight of 2500 so quite light. Combine this with a turbo 350 and 3.34 diff with short tires and they were still slowpokes....
  3. It looks just fine. The D25 grills were meant to look like the D24 full size USA Dodges which were a step up in the lineup My 55 Fargo
  4. Very nice car BTW
  5. Oh now i can see it. The vertical bars are missing?
  6. Pontiac, Chevrolet, or Plymouth, Dodge or Tomato ,Tahmotto. I get that, as was the 261, a GMC and Canadian Pontiac engine. Last time I checked Pontiac was owned and Produced by General Motors aka Chevrolet Pontiac Buick Oldsmobile Cadillac GMC.... John this engine at 90 hp and 128 ftlbs of torque in a much higher RPM.band than even a 201 or 218 Chrysler flathead is not a great candidate for these cars. They have been used and souped up in light hotrods over on the HAMB. But we are talking small and light. The USPS delivery vans are what, running around city and town streets, stop and go. At least it is a better engine than a 2.3 litre Vega or Astre engine. I know as i owned 2 of these many moons ago...
  7. This is a 1947 Dodge D25 grille.
  8. No i am fully aware of the D25 and P15 lineup for Canada. Your grill.is not from a D25 as far as i can tell from the picture. Now the grill on the P15 is stainless the Dodge D25 is cast and looks much different. The engines will be the same though.
  9. Your 47 in your Avatar looks like a P15 Plymouth or at least the grill looks Plymouth. Which is it? If you have the 1947 engine that head if also pre 1950 should be no issue for fit. I would be concerned about CC volume and lower compression because of it..
  10. Okay you are using the 250 Spitfire head? Has it been milled prior? Has the block been decked? On your 218? If you have a 250 or even a 265 you can use the crank and rods in your engine. On the cam is it stock? Or higher lift custom? Deck block .010 and head .050 this should raise compression and not cause issues with the valves. Now the 250 spitfire head is most likely chambered for more volume than the 218. They were like 6.5 to 7 :1. Now ask dpollo or PM Tim Kingsbury either one can steer you right on this topic. Lots have milled these heads upwards to .080 or even .100. Post the engine number to verify what you have. It might be like D25 ******* C or similar....
  11. On the internal external head business. Use the earlier t/stat housing for an external waterpump style. This should make it work... What year of 218? Older than 51 no issues newer some issues...
  12. Yah gutless and no torque. Might not be bad in a light hotrod. Some guys on tbe HAMB use these as well as the Mercruiser engines. If i had to choose between an Iron duke or a 250 inline chevy or even a 230 or the earlier 235 and 261. Well you know the answer. I owned a 64 Chevy truck with a 292 that engine i had a lot of respect for. Why not leave the Chevy engines with the Bowtie Boys.....
  13. Yup good product
  14. Some still add a cross over pipe into the equation. They purport a reduced "rap" and a more mellow tone. Although an inline 6 cylinder engine is not divisive as a V8s separated cylinder banks the inline with tru dual exhaust has 2 individual outlets purging 3 cylinders a piece. In conclusion to the insinuated statement that dual exhaust on a stock inline 6 cylinder engine only perpetuates "noise and fuel consumption" is based on assumed beliefs rather than emperical evidence...
  15. Dont think this the case at all. Now if you have single exhaust great and all is well keep it that way. Im not sure you understand optimal exhaust flow and back pressure. Engine think giant vaccum pump more in more out optimal breathing as in inhaling and exhaling. Let me put it this way these Lhead engines are asthmatic and help to allow flow makes it breath better. You dont need multi carbs or a cam job necessarily to benefit from dual exhaust. Look if you have your engine running well bone stock all.must be right in your world. I just dont care for bone stock.....
  16. Thanks apparently it grows in my locale in the delta marshy swampy areas...
  17. We all need to "Chill" yall dig... Listen to my 60s song of the day, and grab a favorite beverage and enjoy... Yall from down south care to share what this "polk salad" might be...
  18. Thanks Adam not sure why so many think adding carbs or split echaust does nothing or sucks fuel. Tim Kingsbury explains it well The Chrysler corp designed an engine for production costs and effiency for its normal use. Now max power and efficiency via multi carbs and exhaust costs money and lowers profit which of course lowers the bottom line. Now for the 265 and 250 big trucks you could order a factory dual carb and tru split header. WAS THAT JUST FOR LOOKS AND NOISE? I dont think so it added horsepower and torque. The 265 and the early V8 had matched horsepower or close in the big truck line up.
  19. Can you please explain? Or does this mean more peddle to the meddle causality? At any rate i can firmly attest to improved fuel economy with dual carbs and exhaust as will many others. Although fuel economy is important it is not a means to an end with these type of vehicles. I can state emphatically with multi carbs dual exhaust and an overdrive or a decent final drive ratio fuel economy is very decent and is better than a 1 carb and exhaust with poor gearing..
  20. Ive heard this type of nonsense on this topic before. Splitting the exhaust does nothing but make noise did you mention this to your customers? Allowing these engine to breath certainly helps its not adding a blower or nitrous i will agree. I do realize many are looking for that sound and look of tru duals and are not fixated on more power. If you build these engines with dual or tri carb intakes, high lift cam, more compression via an aftermarket head or milling stock types having a stock 1 dump exhaust would be like shooting yourself in the foot. You obviously did not or have not built hi perf Chrysler flathead But to make a blanket statement duals only make noise and no added power however slight that might be sounds ridiculous....
  21. Could be i took it so long ago i hardly remember doing it.
  22. Doug not a college Cal state reference such Cal State Long Beach. But the state of California did I not mention I 5 north of San Diego.....lol
  23. I believe this is I 5 north of San Diego somewhere, but it was a long time.......
  24. I took this pic years ago, anyone know where this location is? Anyone have any pics of this freeway today? We were driving in a 1964 Chevrolet Panel, affectionately know as the "Unicorn"...
  25. Okay great better than an S10 swap and still.Mopar and relatively cheap. How much do you drive these now and how long are your trips? Do you have pics of your conversions?
