1/8 inch thick, upholstery backer board, black colored compressed cardboard. Comes in 40 X 60 inch sheets. I then used 1/4 inch foam, adhered to the panel using 3M 777 adhesive spray, I used the old embossing strips, no foam goes over this, other wise the embossment would not be seen......Fred

Thanx for the "thumbs up" Guys. It is period correct, except I did not docarpet on the bottom 5 inches of the panel with a bound edge, I like it without. Tha material is a dark blue auto upholstery velvet. The seats are being done in the same material with factory pleats, and sewing, with the exception of the front seat frame and it the frame backing, will be a grey vinyl, hope I am not making a mistake going 2 tone on the seats.........Fred PS armrest will be the same material as the door panles, was going to go grey vinyl on the armrests , but changed my mind......

Different Head Gaskets for US & Canadian engines?
55 Fargo replied to D25_Owner's topic in P15-D24 Forum
Exactly Robert, in Canada all Chrysler L Head 6s, were the same block,as our smaller market could not justify in the Chrsyler corp building 2 different blocks in this country (Canada), regardless of the displacement differences, this block is identical to the US made 25 inch block used for 251 and 265 engines. The bulge on the head is the 50 or 51 and later newly designed block featuring an internal water pump by-pass system, nothing more nothing less. This has been an interesting thread on the reason for the different head casting......Fred ps if you have a 237, you could make it into a 251 by boring the cyls to accomadate the pistons, then change to right connecting rods, and maybe the crank, and instant 251 engine.................Fred -
Hi Spartan Billy, interior looks great, and the price is right. I have my seats out of my 47 Chrysler Royal Club Coupe. they are being recovered, in 2 tone dark blue cloth on the seat faces, and grey vinyl for the backings and seat frames. OEM stitching and pleats will be sewn. I am remaking my door panels, have new backer boards cut, and all holes made on them, I need to know how you did yours, I am using the original stainless trim, and want to use the embossing strips from the old panels, how did you make yours. I am not sure I will put carpet along the bottom of the door panles, could that part be done later if need be.............Thanx and your interior looks great...Fred

Hi, you would have had a 218 -25 inch Canadian long block 6, this would have been mated to a regular clutch housing ,and 3 spd manual trans with a 3.9 or 4.1 rear end. Are you located in Canada, if so, the engine and trans and bell housing are in my neighbourhood. If you are in the USA, you could use, a 251 long block, with the correct bellhousing and 3 spd trans. I am not sure 100 % if a clutch housing from a 23.5 inch 218 or 230 will bolt up to the 251, don't see why not, the only issue may be the 4 bolt flywheel bolted onot the 251s 8 bolt crank. This may work togther, the flywheel may be another issue, but if you can get these other items, they may very well work together, this set-up should bolt into your D25, and work with the engine mounts, clutch and trans rods too........Fred

Hey Greg, this has been available for at least the time I have lived here, but was pricey for a while. I live 4 miles outside of a town of 10000, they of course have cable and telephone high speed, but I am a couple of miles outside the gray area, for this type of service. I am only 18 miles north of Winnipeg POP around 750000 people, so I really am not way out in the sticks. Having said that, even some of the remote Indian Reservations up North of me, have DSL high speed, as they have the numbers ina smalll area to get the telephone service internet provider. It's all about the bucks, and whehter they can make them, on there investments...
-
Hi all, just got high speed , after 5 yeasr of dial-up, my new internet provider is wireless, hav e a little recever on the roff of the house, we have fantatstic signal strnegth. The best part is this, it is no more money per month, then a 2nd phone line and the dial-up. It is super fast, even watched Blueskies and Coatneys car videos with ease.....Fred

I did whatever was necessary to to make my 47 Chrysler CC, safe, presentable, and appealing to me. I am still finishing her up, she is only a driver, but started out as a real wreck. If I had the time, equipment, money and patience, I would have lifted the body off the frame for a more professional weld and sheet metal repair underneath. Once she is more or less finished, plan to do a 50s Dodge or Fargo Truck, might consider a frame off for that project......Fred

How about a distributor in Canada, your kits could shipped in a larger volume, then sold from this point. Not sure if this would create more business for you, and provide better shipping and distribution for the Canadian market. Would possibly be willing to act as an agent to market and distribute your kits in Canada...........Fred

Thanx Rob and Ed, yes it is getting closer to the end, but these things are never complete. Once the interiior is complete, want to get bumpers re-chromed, need to fix some oil leaks, get stainless polished, some pot metal rechromed too. Then maybe do a front end job, convert to front disc brakes, build hi-perf flattie, and the wish list goes on and on....................LOL

Hey all, pulled front and back seats out today, and off to the upholsterer they have gone. The front split becnh will be given a grey vinyl on the outer backs and around the bottom seat frame, the bottom and back cushions will be dark blue cloth, with OEM stitching and pleating. The back seat will be dark blue cloth, and grey vinyl along the bottom kick area. The door panels I am in the process of completing, dark blue cloth, with grey vinyl armrests, or may go dark blue cloth on the armrests too. The headliner I will order ready made, in dark grey, the carpet is dark blue loop. The seats will be back by Xmas, this is this Gents side line, hope all goes well.......Fred

Thanx for the "thumbs up Norm", these are easy to take out, so no big deal, for the wind lace installation......Fred
-
Hey all, finished my kick panels in dark blue vinyl, used 1/4 inch foam under it. The turned out well. In the pic I still need to do my door panels, very soon, and replace the carpet. The seats are being pulled today, they are going tothe upholsterer this weekend. I plan to use the bubble foil sound deadener on the florrs, then felt auto underlay over it, the foil insulation will be used for the roof too........Fred

The engine number on the upper left front corner, will tell you if this engine was really an industrial from the factory or a rebuilt engine, being that you are in the USA , will likely be a 251 or 265, if this were a Canadian Long block, it could have been a 218,228,251,265, and some others.....Fred

Thanx Oldguy48, it is all back together, oiled with sae 20 oil, designed for electric motors. It has been running all after noon, and is re-installed in the HRV and is doing well, my variable speed switch is not working, but that is another story.......Fred

Hi all, pulled the motor out of my 20 YO Life Breath HRV yesterday, the bearing were super tight, lots of gunk in there. The motor was hard to turn, I clean and blew out all the gunk , and re-oiled, this morning, this little motor spins freely by hand. As this motor is now very difficult to come by, wonder if I should try here as is. The problem I was having was bearing noise, and the dust and gunk over the years sezied them up a quite a bit. This motor you have to oil, so maybe the oild and dust/dirt created a plaque in around the bearing, and really jammed things up. This m,roing this little motor turns by hand very easily, and spins nice, no noises, the rest of the motor seems good, butdon't know for sure.....Thanx anyone who knows about these things..Fred PS no serviceman wanted this job, thats why I did it.

Hi Norm, no it'sa rubber gasket, don't think it has anything to do with fule yet. The glass bowl had a bit of a har time seating into this gaket to begin with, seems the bowl lip does not seat all the way into the filter , and the rubber gasket gets distorted easily, some thing like it's owner.....LOL PS Happy Halloween, just got back with the kids at 8:00 Pm CDT, it was not bad here for halloween 37 and calm tonight, but no snow........

Hi all, went to town this afternoon to mail Robins Sumac red paint piece sample from my parts car. I smelled gas on the way, but popped hood and did not notice anything, carb a little wet, but thats not unusual for a Carter B&B. When I got home the gas smell was strong, popped hood, sure enough leaking gas out the glass bowl at the gasket area, dripping on warm manifolds, good thing it was only like 40 here. Tonight readjusted the glass bowl against the gasket, retightened the nut by hand only, it stopped leaking. Now I am not exactly sure I have this baby installed right, and do not know for sure whether I will yank it out and keep it for display. It is a very nice Carter unit, but a little leary about using it in hotter weather.....Fred

Hi Bob, think I will err on the side of caution, and just clean -up and lube this puppy, on the bench it works well. Will try and post a pic of mine soon....Fred

Hey Pat this looks neat. I never did have help on my brake bleeding, and suspect there is still some air in there. The pedal seems pretty good, but I really should re-bleed the brakes with help or with one of these do-hickeys....

Okay, will post a few pics of the speedo on the bench.....Fred
