  1. Did you mean memories or mammarys Don.....
  2. Winnipeg city had 5 drive ins in there heyday, the last 1 closed not that long ago. Being up north, some of them had little electric heaters you put in the car, to keep warm in the winter, rather than running the car's engine....
  3. Hey Bob, good ideas, as the poster did not post any floor pics, we have no idea what He has. I know mine needed rockers, toe kick area, and under back seat, trunk pan too. Lots of welding, but not a bad job. I also know of someone, who has done the whole floor pan swap, and He stated, it was not bad at all, so it can be done. I love these Coupes, and sure wish I had 1, but most likely never will, and our Biz Coupe is in nice form, they aren't all gonna come that way. Sure hope this coupe gets restored to it's former glory, and not hotrodded, but even if it were hotrodded, it would be saved at least....
  4. Nice Pic Reg, very cool car, hey them britches are a tad short.....
  5. Very True Ed, and it is a New Yorker by the looks and length, Mine were all rotten too, replaced it all, both sides. These cars are full framed, if the frame is good, he can have new rockers made, or do it himself, if he is inclined. These cars rot typically along the rockers, outer sill area, and the toe kick area. The frame I would be the most concerned, as well as all body mounts, and the front cowl supports and mounts. The outer floor supports that mount with rockers might be rotted, those are fixable, some work to be done for sure...
  6. My car, before and after, chrome is not redone, as well as stainless and pot metal, did all bodywork and paint at home myself.
  7. Get the car, you can get forgiveness far easier then permission. The 46-48 Chrysler biz coupes are rare, and the good new is, a lot if not most parts from the other models fit, with the exception of the trunk lid. Buy the car, you won't be sorry, I have a 47 Chrysler Royal Club Coupe, that was worse than that, and I still fixed it up pretty good myself. What is it, Royal,Windsor or New Yorker? the 1st 2 have 6s and a shorter length in the front sheet metal, the latter has the 8 and longer front sheet metal, the 8 could bea little more difficult for parts and such, but not the 6s...Good Luck, buy the car, you will be happy, and very busy
  8. AS others have said, if your gettin into it, rewire, change bulbs to 12volt, runtz voltage dropper for fuel gauge, voltage reducer for heater motor ( or upgrade to 12 volt blower motor), voltage dropper for clock, radio some say will work on negative, but you can get 6 volt negative grnd vibrator for it, then just use a voltage dropper in the circuit. You can buy a ready made wire harness, or make it up yourself, not that complicated. The real nice thing with 12 volt is this, engine starts are stronger, and quicker especially on hot days after a good run, you can add accessories, stereo etc, all modern stuff. Go with the 12 volt, if it is already started, 6 volt is fine, but 12 volt is fantastic, I have both, and think the 12 volt is much better, and both vehicles have new wiring and all electrical in great shape...welcome and good luck
  9. Hi Brian, see that you installed the 47 Plym Canadian 218, dry clutch and 3 spd trans, how d you like it? I have the same set-up in my 47 Chrysler, and have often thought fluid drive would be neat, but do not think I want to ever attempt going back to that. In Canada a lot of the Desotos and Lower line Chrysler Royals had fluid drive and 3 spd trans, this could be done, without the electronics needed for the M5/6 trans. I do know 1 thing, the regular clutch, gives more off the line than a fluid drive and M5 trans, have driven those, and know the difference.....
  10. Hey Bob, juts drove her the other day, she runs and drives real well, needs new outer tie rod ends, but all is well other wise, for the front end and steering. This vehicle starts easy, runs smooth, and is real basic. I hope to get going on her this summer, but so many other things on the go. I am the type who it is best to have "1 old vehicle", as I like to dote on 1 at a time. I do love the old Chrysler, but hate driving her on the gravel road, and the truck in some ways is a more fun vehicle IMHO.....
  11. Thanx Tim, with my filthy gravel roads, and not the best timing for me to start trying to buy newer vehicles, want to drive her for another 2 years, and maybe 50K miles. Most likely will do the repairs, and get on with it..thanx
  12. Hey Guys,I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan, nothing fancy, has the dvd player, air, cruise, tilt, like most of them. I have a 3.3 litre engine, about 124000 miles, always had oil changes etc. I have replaced all brakes, and fronts twice. I need front struts, links, ball joints, 1 tie rod end, and an alignment, at a local shop I use, for the tune of $1300 complete. I also could use, rear shocks, new serpetine belt, trans luid service, and would like to flush cooling system and put in new t/stat and coolant. This part would do myself. The body is in good shape, as well as the interior, not mint, but decent condition. I have my snow tires on the van now, with their own rims, but could use new summer tires this summer too. Is would get nothing on a trade in, and do not want to buy another vehicle if I can avoid it. Any of you have any thought on this? I am leaning toward all the repairs, but sure hope I don't total it or anything after ward. All my miles are on the highway, not sure what the life of a 3.3 liter engine is, or the transmissions on these vehicles I figure a 2005 caravan up here in good condtion witha vehicle safety certificate is worht about 3-4k......thanx Fred
  13. It is installed in left rear fender area, higher than the tank, easy install, vents gas tank, and has the roll over feature. ITs up to you, don't see why you would have to install it. I fabbed a bracket for the valve, used fuel line, and it is installed. I used spacers made of hard wood, and thin rubber insulator, wood spacers are painted, they don't get wet anyway, and will last many years........
  14. I will swap patches with others too...
  15. Now that could be an interesting ride...
  16. Bobby I am wit ya , Good Buddy, I just love those dry days in late fall early spring sunny dry and 45-55, nice cruisin weather. Right now it's pretty mild up here for winter, and all the roads get sloppy with slush and salt, prefer it a little colder, then roads stay super dry, and did you know the colder it is, that ice is less slippery and salt has little effect, so than add sand and salt to mix...... thumbs up for "Dixieland"
  17. Hi Brian, yes that was my reason, all has been and is well with this install....
  18. Hey Bob, I know you live close to Canada, and probably know our gas is sold in litres.... 3.85 X $1.05, gives the price per US gallon....
  19. Can send you patches or ball cap, your choice, lemme know via PM, you Guys really have 35000 members, we only have 7500
  20. Hi, I figure that too, I have a tiny 600 watt oil rad heater, and a hanging brooder heatlamp, for severe cold nights. Tonight it is just the oil rad heater set on low, and it is 40 inside the coop.
  21. Can you tell us what it doesn't do:D?
  22. Possibly, I am Canadian Federal Corrections........
  23. I have heard the Sex Link are good birds, will look at thse or Barred Plymouth Rocks, I want large to extra large brown eggs. I only want 2-4 hens, going to get pullets, and introduce them to the bantams, should go well with the roosters at least, and being bigger hens, should go not bad with the bantam hens. I fgiure if I have enough hens to supply our egg needs, that should be enough. Lots of bees being raised around here, some as close as right behind my property
  24. Here ya go, My 55 Fargo, with 52 box, drivin around here in winter. Gonna fix her up, with new paint soon, I have 55 rear fenders and correct running boards too. I do have a Mopar 8/14 inch rear diff, with 3.23 gears, sure make highway drivin much nicer. Check out this link for my escapade today...... http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=34988
