  1. Once they are torqued down then I have to weld the heads of the bolts.
  2. And today at lunch time I started to attach the crank counter weights.
  3. Over the weekend I disassembled the tranny and checked it over. Steam cleaned made some gaskets and painted it.
  4. The seal looks damaged in the last photo on the right, and I see blue rtv on it. It shouldn't have been needed. I would order another, but it's your car do it how you want to. I just would never reuse a seal that's been driven out.
  5. Does your seal have an open side and a flat side or is both sides closed in. I see it's a national brand seal ant they normally stamp oli side or air side on them.
  6. I did not want to read this thread but I couldn't help it after I saw 4 Paiges. My god should I even suggest hammering the bolt holes flat so that gasket seals or not.
  7. I also disassembled the distributor checked everything over. Tighten the rivits and ordered some new springs and bushings for timing advance. Sanded and painted.
  8. So yesterday I disassembled the oil pump, checked the tolerance, flat sanded the cover and body. Checked the bushings and painted.
  9. Does anyone know if otto engine works is still open. I've tried calling them several times with no answer. Egge is who referred me to them.
  10. I have and they can't help me out
  11. I just checked out those Nissan and Mitsubishi pistons and their compression height was 1.2 and 1.1
  12. So my pin is a wore out 3/4" and pin height is 2.00"
  13. Exhaust manifold all painted.
  14. Valves and seats look great.
  15. So last night I lapped the valves and painted the exhaust manifold
  16. I do have the pins and pistons so I can measure the pin. But I do know that they are much smaller than my 251 Chrysler.
  17. Rods are out to the babbitt shop so I can't even measure them, I guess I didn't have a plan there.
  18. The real issue is it's a rod pinch bolt on the piston pin. Which I guess our Bridgeport and a good bit may fix that.
  19. The expense is the driver here. I'm already dumping $1000s of dollars for babbitt and really can't afford $1000s more fore custom pistons and bore work. Slaves may be cheaper I will have to check. 3.00" bore is rare breed.
  20. This is for the 29 174.9ci but the 29 has a 3.00" bore and there are no pistons out there oversized without having some made up. I was told the 3' bore was bored out to 3 1/8 for the 189.8ci engine. The cylinder walls are thick enough to bore over sized. I'm trying to see if the 201 pistons would work or not. They are readily available.
  21. Looking for piston measurements for 3 1/8 bore engines. Plymouth 201 is an engine that comes to mind. Any others also. I need the pin diameter and pin height, piston length ect. Trying to find a reasonable price replacement for my DeSoto pistons. Ty.
  22. I cleaned up the head and intake/exhaust part of the block today on lunch. I also removed the intake/exhaust manifold from the bead blaster and primed them.
