  1. Some people hang deer in there trailer I hang parts.
  2. So I weighed all of the pistons and there is less than 3 grams difference between the lightest and heaviest. Not bad.
  3. Just got off the phone with the babbitt place, (is he called a babbitter????) My bearings are next in line and will be prepped on Monday and poured on Tuesday. Should be ready for shipping wed or thur. It's time to take the block to the machine shop to have it bored out and have the head decked. I have picked a happy .080 on the head. Then when I get the bearings it will be time to line bore.....
  4. I found a scale in the paint room and it's not as bad as I thought. Oid pistons are 490.6g with pin. New pistons are 554g with pin. So 64g difference might be workable.
  5. I'm wondering if it's worth checking rotational balance. I've never had this done but it sounds expensive. And I'm not sure how to do it with the bolt on weights. I guess I could have the fabricator in my shop make heavier ones if needed. Tell me what I should expect to pay for balancing.
  6. Allot. I don't have a digital scale anymore to check. (It was for air conditioning if your wondering) but I'm thinking close to double. So that is my next issue.....
  7. For the Cowell uprights I used some pieces of ash
  8. For the roof I used a white oak beam on each side and an old tonneau cover for the roof.
  9. Carpeting is so much easier on a flat plywood floor. I had to make my own panels and door cards. I'm using a crushed velour for the panels. A wrinkle velour for the seats and a map of route 66 fabric for the head liner
  10. So while rebuilding my engine I also have been re-doing my interior. Here are some pics of how It started to where I am now.
  11. Got some new toys today. Thank you egge.
  12. That would be the best way. I've also used the nut on the generator.
  13. Got my valve stems down to where I'm happy. Now a little sanding and then I'm good.
  14. Allot of shows I attended are free. Allot in this area are free. Some even supply lunch and it's still free. The of course the big ones cost me camping and entrance fees and so on. I'm just selective on larger shows.
  15. That's a good idea, I have very little lift. A non performance 29 has a lift of .37 ish. I have a lot of room to drive it deeper into the block. On Monday I will check it out. I will also need to see if they are available if they are different. I remember replacing the guides in my 49 that 2 of them shattered on me.
  16. I know the valve stem is the biggest issue, but how much can I remove from that without effecting the valve.
  17. I am disassembling the updraft carburetor also. I know a lot of people have bad things to say about the Stromberg U1 carb but I think it's an attractive carb. Lots of character.
  18. Got some more work to do but I got a general shape to all of them.
