james curl Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 I make my own using 1/2" x1/8" flat stock. Cut you a peice that you can bend. Place about 1" of stock in vice and bend over, remove from vice and switch end in the vice. Place a peice of 3/16" x 1" flat stock under the turned over peice and lower the stock so that the 3/16" stock is captured between the top of the vice and the turn out on the 1/2" stock. Fold the turnout over the 3/16" stock untill you can remove both peices from the vice. Place the 3/16" stock in the fold and hammer flat. Remove the 3/16" stock leaving a folded flange 3/16" from the remainder of the flat stock. Place the folded end in the drill press and drill a hole the size of the rod you want to mount it on. Drill the hole close to the free end of the fold. Now take a hack saw and saw a slot through the edge of the fold into the hole. Insert a 3/16" bolt and nut in the fold. Slide the arm onto the rod and tighten the bolt and nut chinching the arm to the rod. Now you can cut the arm to length and drill a hole for the rod end to mount into. Next I would remove the arm from the rod and radus the ends of the arm and the fold over to make then look better before painting. You can make arms in this manner to fit any size rod you might want to use in different widths of flat stock. Hope this helps some if not look in Speedway catalog atthe arm in the triple carb linkage. If you have ever converted an automatic choke to manual with a kit that included an arm it is made in the same manner. Quote

martybose Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 I made my linkage using pillowblocks and bellcranks from http://www.kinsler.com. Very pricey (I think I had about $300 in the linkage, but it came out gorgeous!. Marty Quote

greg g Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 Both my parents were children of the depression. So my modus operendi is to find more frugal solutions. I believe I less than 20 bucks in my linkage set up. Personally, I'd rather put the difference in the tank. Quote
