Tony WestOZ Posted July 25, 2008 Report Posted July 25, 2008 Very nice looking Fargo. Is it a 38 model, grill looks like Plymouth 36 model. If its a 38 Canadian model, FG 1, 116 wheel base. Engine should be a long block T 59, 218.06 cu", 3 3/8" x 4 1/16". Do you know the ID numbers? Truck serial number, located on the left side of the frame. (behind the front wheel) Engine number, stamped on boss left hand side of cylinder block between number 1 and 2 cylinders. Here`s an Australian 36 model Quote
PatS.... Posted July 25, 2008 Report Posted July 25, 2008 Seems as though the Sumka Bros are still in business in Winnipeg. I wonder what the history of the truck is? It sort of looks like it may be an older "restoration" maybe for advertising, the seven digit phone number and the nice white wheels seem out of place on a bush truck. That is one of the nicest looking trucks I've seen in a while. Much nicer than my "bugeye" Fargo from '46!!! Quote
Allan Faust Posted July 25, 2008 Report Posted July 25, 2008 That is a nice looking truck...... welcome aboard..... tell us more about yourself and the truck.... serial #'s etc.... where you from....?? Allan Quote
evancanada Posted July 25, 2008 Author Report Posted July 25, 2008 well i had the serials written down but i've lost em for now, im going to do soem work on it today so ill write em down again. took the box off last night and almost got the front end off just a couple more rusted bolts to cut off. The grill from what i have been told was hit in a crash about 30 years ago and my uncle made a new one for it. Quote
greg g Posted July 25, 2008 Report Posted July 25, 2008 If it were mine, I would do a mechanical refreshment of it ad drive it jsut the way it is. Clean it up seal it with some clear coat and enjoy the looks it gets. The wheels are killer, the logo'ed doors are cool. Get it mechanically sound, detail up the engine and under hood, come new tires. If the engine is siezed, pull the plugs and add some penetrating oil of some sort. and let it sit. You can use KB blaster, Marvel mystery oil, mix up a cocktail of auto trans fluid, diesel or kerosene. Let it sit then see if you can turn the engine by putting a socket on the front crankshaft nut. Or after letting it sit for a week or so, air up the tires, attach a tow rope and pull it with another vehicle slowly then with the trans in second gear, let out the clutch and see if the engine will free up. If it has been sitting fo a number of years it may have a couple valves that will stick open from sitting on the cam lobes for so long. Sometimes they will free up other times you need to remove the cylinder head and coax them with a rummber mallet while turning the engine over with the starter. Great truck, glad you found this resource, and don;t hesitate to ask any and all questions. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 25, 2008 Report Posted July 25, 2008 Nice looking truck. And I would definitely leave that hood ornament. It's probably an aftermarket add-on, but neat nonetheless. Stuff like that is what makes these old vehicles unique. Quote
old woolie Posted July 25, 2008 Report Posted July 25, 2008 That's a keeper. I'd like to find somthing that good in the wood's around here. Quote

I agree with the 36 plymouth guess, headlight buckets and pedestals look like 36 plymouth also... Quote
