25" oil pan cut down to fit 23" block??

I have been searching for a front sump oil pan for a 218 23" block engine. No luck so far, however I do have a line on a 25" block front sump oil pan. Does anyone know it I can cut 2" out of that pan, weld it back together and have it fit my 23". Anyone done that??

I don't think that would work. The extra 2 inches is likely to be spaced out equally between all the bolt holes. Not all in one spot where it could be cut out. I've still got a 23" pan that I don't need but its got an engine stuck on top of it

I have one but do you have to pull the motor to get it?? the truck is a 1949 3/4 ton with no front clip.
