Norm's Coupe
Just another reason why to buy new brake parts instead of using old stuff. Wife heard on the morning news that Jerry Sienfield rolled his vintage 60's model sports car this morning. Report said he was on a road in New York driving his vintage car and was going to stop at an intersection that crossed a major highway with lots of traffic. When he tried to stop he had no brakes so he turned off the road into a field to avoid running into someone on the other highway. When he did the car rolled over. Luckily he wasn't hurt and neither was anyone else. However, it points out that the old brake systems and parts are not made for todays traffic, and the fact that they should be updated. Norm's Coupe
Well Don..............I may not have spelled his name right but I'm sure if you use your imagination, you'll know who he is. He's not on my A list of comics/actors.
Don Coatney
Is he the guy from the everyone loves Sienfield show? I have never seen that show.
Norm's Coupe
Don, You mean Everybody Loves Raymond. No thats not him. This is the guy who had the sitcom show named after his name. Don't ask me anymore about the show. Only saw it a couple of times because I didn't like it. That said, when it comes to actors, singers etc. I'm lucky if I can name more than just a few and connect the faces with the right names. Not being star struck, I really don't care what their names are. Only care if the show is good or not. When we were on vacation in Orlando several years ago we stopped late at night for a piece of pie and coffee. As we were sitting there eating our pie, drinking our coffee in walks the star of the old sitcom "The Jefferson's". (No don't know his real name either, nor do I care). Wife said that's the star of the Jefferson's (she said his real name). I just said, yeah I know and went on eating my pie. He was just another person eating to me, although I did like that show. Then there was the time I ran into Reggie White when he was still playing on the Green Bay Packers. Stopped at a gas station just north of Indianapolis to buy gas. Got out of the car and there stood Reggie White filling up his van talking to his wife. I simply said "Hi", he replied the same I and started filling my own tank. The way I look at it, he doesn't want to be bothered when he's on a trip anymore than I do, so I leave those people alone so they can enjoy their private life too. Captain Neon
I don't mind it when my fans stop me to chat when I am filling up my P15. I will happily autograph their fuel receipt or anything else they offer.

Or, was Wesee just his nickname for his wife? Do remember the maid giving him a hard time all the time though. Not sure but I think the one who played his wife died. Since that type of trivia is unimportant trivia to me I don't try to remember it.
Don Coatney
Norm; What are the "Green Bay Packers"? Do they work for that fudge company in Green Bay that I heard about while watching the "Bob and Tom" radio show? Guess I need to go back out in the garage and find a corner to stand in. Glad I dont have a round garage. Last guy who had a round garage shot himself. He was frustrated because he could not find a corner to stand in. I might not have that punch line down pat but he wanted to do some eliminating in a corner.
Rodney Bullock
Wesee was his wife Isabell Sanford, yes see died. She was much older than George or Sherman hemsley. I was always very interested in that show. The charaters were very positive:) I got a chance to see alot of stars and interact with them when I was younger, I like your attitude about not bothering them when they are on their own time. That's how I met alot of them, never acting star struck they were at ease around me. As a big star myself I don't like to be bothered when I am out with my wife:p hahahaha unless I am with a bigger star(Don C.)
greg g
Actually, applying the emergency brake, then yanking the steering wheel, to the right, caused the sudden yawing motion. The uncorrected yaw directed the car off the pavement, which caused the car to end up on its side. It was reported that the car was a mid 70's Fiat. According to Enzo Ferrari, who worked at Fiat fo a time, "Brakes, they only slow you down, they have no real purpose in a racing car." Norm's Coupe
Norm; What are the "Green Bay Packers"? Sorry about that one Don. I forgot you may not know about a team like the Packers since the team in Smashville is barely known in the league. Maybe when they get in with the big leaguer's they'll have an opportunity to play the "Renowned" Packers, at which time the Packers will whoop them. Just going by what the wife said she heard on the news this morning. She said the police didn't issue him a ticket because of a mechanical failure of the brakes. bob_amos
What a shame. Hope the car is fine...Actually, brakes are so important and you'd be surprised how many people just refuse to part with the money to make them safe. I have actually had 2 customers in the shop tell me it was either fix the brakes or buy a tank of gas. Scares me knowing that there are all those people with bad brakes out there driving around me and my family. Guess each and every one of us has our priorities. (Misguided as they may be at times.) Guest redheadedguy
Fiat? The amazing part of the story is, that it ran long enough to have a wreck. I had a 71 spider that only had first, third and fifth gear. Then, first went out. Try taking off in 3! No fun with a 1.8 twin cam. Fun memories of running about 100 on the interstate though. Rodney Bullock
Normspeed, I had a fiat along time ago, it was a Fiat 850 I learned to use a clutch in it. My uncle gave the car to me. If I remember correctly I could have opened the door and dragged my feet to stop it. It was a very small, light car. You would think that JerryS. could afford to have someone do the light maint. on a car in his collection. The one thing I noticed about Jay Leno is he knows his cars backward and forward, he's a knowlegable guy and when he explains his cars he is knows there short commings. If it has badly designed brakes or steering he will have upgraded it. Bob was saying that some of his customers would drive around with bad brakes and such, I knew plenty of guy's that did the same thing. You could hear the metal on metal pads and shoes on rotors and drums, very bad decision to let things go that far before repair.
Normspeed
You're right, Seinfeld has a lot of bucks, he could afford to pay for some mechanical upkeep. I was just kidding about the Fiat. I knew 4 guys in school daze that had fiats and alfas. They did break a lot, but then again my friends drove them like they were trying to break them, and they got their wish. Guest rockabillybassman
Man, I loved the Seinfeld shows, and I've seen every single episode. I dont generally care for American comedy, but Seinfeld was one out of the box. As a comic I dont think he rates, but the combination of characters was outstanding. Seinfeld ranks with Mash and Taxi. 62rebelP23
the article notes a 1967 Fiat but not which model; it says variably coupe or 2dr sedan, leads me to think of maybe a Dino; not your average 124 spider or 850, but could be an 850. Seinfeld reputably owns a 4 story garage in which he keeps a hoard or Porsches; i don't think he ignores service on any of his cars, bad investment practice. heck; brakes fail. simple fact. he had the presence of mind to not only haul up on the e-brake but to avoid hitting several other vehicles AND still come up with a quip. IMHO;well done. i had a couple of 124 spiders too. why DO they all lose 1st gear?
Ed Griffin
Sorry about that one Don. Did the Packers make it to the Super Bowl as the Titans did , what, the 1st season they played as the Titans and the second season they played as a TN team? The "big league" remarks always seem to come up with all TN sports teams. Just as in basketball. The University of Memphis has heard this so many times and yet where are they today at this very moment? The Final Four!! Just to keep from being OT here's a pic of my 81 Fiat Betta between number 1 and 2 Dodge.
