Garfield on the oil crisis

A lot of folks can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage

here in our country.

~~~
Well, there's a very simple answer.
~~~

Nobody bothered to check the oil.

~~~
We just didn't know we were getting low.
~~~

The reason for that is purely geographical.

~~~
Our OIL is located in :
Alaska, California, Coastal Florida, Coastal Louisiana, Wyoming, Utah , Kansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
Our dipsticks are located in Washington , DC.
Any Questions?
NO?...Didn't think so.
...while being careful not to wade into the political fray - humorous comment by Garfield. Nice to be at an age remembering paying less than 40 cents a gallon for gasoline.At least we can still enjoy the cars.:)
How to use the rebate
As you may have heard the Bush Administration said each and every one of us would now get a nice rebate. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline it will all go to the Arabs, if we purchase a computer it will all go to India, if we purchase fruit and vegetables it will all go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala, if we purchase a good car it will all go to Japan, if we purchase useless crap it will all go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy.
We need to keep that money here in America, so the only way to keep that money here at home is to buy prostitutes and beer, since those are the only businesses still in the US.
dodgepu1946,
That makes sense to me. At what point will that qualify us to be Governor of NY?
For this position one must first interview with Kristen. I am accepting donations for this interview.
Very well put Ed. Along those lines as everyone knows (or should know) the FCC is requiring all TV transmissions switch from analog to digital by next February. Of course that meant every one like me would have to either buy a new TV or a converter box. Of course either way that should help the economy a little when people do either. Well.............We have 5 TV's around our house and they are all the old analog TV's. Since they all work great I'm not going out and buying a new TV, so I called and had two of the government $40 coupons sent to me to use to help pay for the $60 converter boxes. I received the coupons last Saturday in the mail. Along with the coupons a letter gave a list of stores, box model numbers and manufacturers name of the boxes the coupons are good for. Went to Radio Shack (was on the list) and bought two converter boxes. Got them home, looked on the box and they said; "Made In China".:rolleyes: So.........just who's economy are we helping with the US government coupons.? If you buy a new TV, they are probably made in China or someplace over that way too.
You are only allowed two coupons per household. So........guess the other 3 TV's will go in storage until one of the other two take a dump. No matter, we don't watch all those TV's anyway. We're lucky watching just one of them.
