Tony WestOZ Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Is anyone in the US currently make tailgate skins with DODGE pressed into them. Someone here in OZ is looking for one. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 In 4 years of working on these trucks I have never seen anyone with tailgate skins. We have to look for a long time to find a decent looking tailgate and then hope we can afford it. I know of places making fenders and running boards, but not tailgates. I hope someone can prove me wrong on this because that would be wonderful to find some. Quote
Steven Hood Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Check with Mar-K. I know they just brought out the header panel for 53-80 trucks, but I haven't checked to see what they have for gates. http://www.mar-k.com/ Steve Quote
Bob_Koch Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Steve, you're right - Mar-K has the front piece now. But no tailgate info to speak of. Tony, one of the issues that needs to be addressed is which bed does this person have. Here in the U.S. we had both low-side and high-side beds, depending on the year. Not sure how that relates to Dodge trucks in OZ. I think vintagepowerwagons.com has some complete tailgates. But no skins. Quote
Tony WestOZ Posted December 4, 2006 Author Report Posted December 4, 2006 It turns out that the guy is just after the part of the tailgate that has DODGE pressed into it so that he can weld that into the tailgate of a OZ 53 coupe ute.(no, not mine). He might have to look at buying a used one off ebay in the US and then have the piece he wants shipped to Australia. Quote
Mike 1948 1Ton Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 http://www.horkeyswoodandparts.com/IntroPage.htm I have heard this is a possible source but have not checked it out myself mike Quote
Steven Hood Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 I just checked their site, and it says they are in the "process of reproducing the hi-side tailgates and front bed panels. Inquire." Sounds promising. Quote
Steven Hood Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 I have to read things all the way through. They do have "low-side" gates w/ DODGE stamped in them, and plain.http://www.horkeyswoodandparts.com/IntroPage.htm Steve Quote
Young Ed Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 I met Bruce at back to the 50's last year. Great guy. The bed floor in my truck came from mar-k but dad got one from Horkey for his plymouth along with a bed front and tailgate. All good stuff. Quote
