Dennis Hemingway Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Went to the Toys 4 Tots car show in Ridgecrest, Ca. and came accross this nice 1942 DeSoto. I never found the owner to talk to him. Had a great time the weather was in the 60's. The rest of the photos from the show will be on hotrodhotline.com later this week. Tony Cipponeri Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Hidden headlights, Wow. Tony C Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Dennis; I really like the Desoto Wood grain dash in this car. As my car is already Desoto powered I may re-do my dash in that pattern if and when I ever re-do my dash. Thanks for posting. Quote
greg g Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Never seen on up close and personal, and have only seen renderings or factory photos, not one of a current on the road version. thaks for the pics. Quote
Lee Exline Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 It has the fifth Avenue option cigarette dispensing steering wheel but not the skirts? Quote
bob_amos Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Tony. we can hide your headlights for you. Just bring that baby by the shop. I'll have Vincent hide them for, or is that from, you? Either way, they will be hidden. Just do me one favour. Bring it is AFTER you install a new set of Bulls Eye lights. Quote
Lee Exline Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 If he had bullseyes he would not want to hide them Quote
David Maxwell Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 ...original grain. I have the grain plates and a couple of Desoto S11 dashes. I'll post pics when those are done, but they will have to wait until I finish all the P15 dashes. I also have several D24 dashes and at least one Chrysler (no woodgrain on most Chryslers). Additionally, I have Pontiac, Chevy, Buick, Studebaker, Lincoln, Ford, Mercury, Nash and, I think, one Hudson dash. All are from the `40's. I have some `30's era Plymouth, Dodge and Pontiac dashes. I really want to get my hands on a `46 - `48 Cadillac dash. If anyone has one they would like to get rid of, please let me know. Important thing is that I don't spend too much on the dash. By the time I blast, seal, prime, base coat, grain, clear coat and buff, I have way too much time and material (money) into them as is. The dashes have to be bought at reasonable prices. Quote
Normspeed Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Careful Tony, he did a hidden overdrive tranny for me and I still haven't found the derned thing. Just kidding. Tony. we can hide your headlights for you. Just bring that baby by the shop. I'll have Vincent hide them for, or is that from, you? Either way, they will be hidden. Just do me one favour. Bring it is AFTER you install a new set of Bulls Eye lights. Quote
De Soto Frank Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Dave, I was wondering about the grain pattern too... my S-8 had two styles of graining: the windshield/backlight mouldings were a silvery straight-grained pattern, while the dash and door garnishes used the silvery-straight for the perimeter, and a dark-brown walnut butt or burl for the insets. '42 De Sotos are sooo cool ! If anyone sees that original Postman Always Rings Twice, DA Lew Ayers drives a cream-colored '42 De Soto Sedan... Quote
