Mario Loya B1B Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 what Old Navy would do with the old trucks they use as displays in many of their stores after that marketing campaign had ran it's course? We'll sell them on eBay ofcourse! See ebay listing here Quote
Young Ed Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 Boy if you look in the background it looks like this guy has a fleet of these trucks. And to think there is a brand new rebuilt stovebolt 6 in dads garage...... Quote
Mario Loya B1B Posted February 14, 2008 Author Report Posted February 14, 2008 I noticed that. Also, look at some of his previous sales. He appears to be getting a pretty good price for his trucks that lack the not so important stuff like engine, transmission, etc. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 There's a lot of 350 v8s around to make street rods. Of course to be different I'd stick something mopar in there Maybe a nice 440 with the long cross ram tubes. That should make it unique enough Quote
MBF Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 Maybe now that they're done with this sales campaign they'll put a good truck and their stores featuring Dodge B1B's. Mike Quote
greg g Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 There has been a lot of discussion of these on the HAMB forum. Supposedly they were to be sold back to the company that prepped them in the first place. It is a NYC company that does display prop and theatrical stuff. As noted they are bereft of the good stuff but most of them are asselbled of fairly solid bady pieces. I looked at the one in our local store the other day. It is sitting on a wodden stage that supports the frame so the wheels and tires aren't holding anything but minimal weight. The inerior of this one was pretty much sprayed over with the flat blue paint. I suppose you could get on in driving condition pretty easily as the chevy stuff is cheap and universaly available. The one in our store had no wipers, the instrument glass was all broken out and the seat look like a block of foam with a piece of vinyl on it. If you check the hamb and doa search for Old navy the thread will come up. It includes a linkt to the company that out them together. I asked the assistant manager in the store if she knew how they were going to dispose of it, she looked at me like I was form Mars. Quote
Guest Dave Claussen Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Greg, that's cause they just don't get it when it comes to classic trucks of any make. To them it's just another display for their store to draw people in and purchase clothing. We had one in our local O.N. store too and it was in kind of rough shape when you looked at it up close. If they had used Dodges instead, think how many good trucks would have been taken out of the pool of trucks that guys are looking for as a solid truck to restore or parts trucks to use for an ongoing restoration. The sheer numbers of Chevys out there probably made them the logical choice as displays. I wonder if there were any Fords used by Old Navy? Anyone out there ever seen one? Quote
Jim Shepard Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Anybody notice anything peculiar about this truck? Quote
MBF Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Curved windshield means 54 or 55 1st series cab-nose is from a 48-53. How's that? Mike Quote
