ole_slewfoot Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 Hi all, I'm new here and I'd like to say hello at first. So now my question. I'd like to remove the radio of my P15 '48 SUper Deluxe the check the tubes. Does anybody got my hints, how to remove it? And how I can remove the whole chrome console (I like to clean it and add the clock). I preciate to get some hints or better instruction manuals/copies, if available. best regards michael Quote

Merle Coggins Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 Welcome Ole, That's an interesting user name. Care to elaborate? Where do you hail from? Merle Quote
ole_slewfoot Posted February 14, 2008 Author Report Posted February 14, 2008 Hi Merle, yeah, that's a special one. I chose the name in reference to a song by Johnny Horton. I'm from Switzerland and I intend to work a bit at my P15 this summer. Michael Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 Once you have the radio and the speaker out, you'll be able to see how the radio grill is attached. It's just held on by a couple of nuts on the corners of the back of the grill. Remove those and just pull the grill off from the front of the dash. Quote
builtfercomfort Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 (Just to help with the origin of the nickname) High on the mountain, tell me what do you see? Bear tracks, bear tracks, looking back at me You'd better get your rifle before it's too late The bear's got a little pig and its headed through the gate Chorus He's big around the middle, he's broad across the rump Running ninety miles an hour, taking thirty feet a jump Never been caught, Lord, he's never been treed Some folks say he looks a lot like me I saved up my money and I bought me some bees They started making honey way up in the trees I chopped down the tree but my honey's all gone Ol' Slew Foot's done and made himself at home [chorus] Winter's coming on and it's forty below River's frozen over now so where can he go We chase him up the gully, run him in the well Shoot him in the bottom just to listen to him yell [chorus] Some folks say he looks a lot like me Quote
ole_slewfoot Posted February 15, 2008 Author Report Posted February 15, 2008 hehe, exactly ;-) makes me glad somebody else is knowing the fisherman. Quote
Robin (UK) Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Welcome aboard, Michael. I've spent many happy hours enjoying Johnny Horton's music, out on the Honky Tonk Hardwood Floor! Great to hear of another P15 in Europe. Would be good to see some pictures of your car, when you have a chance. Best wishes. Robin. Quote
ole_slewfoot Posted February 21, 2008 Author Report Posted February 21, 2008 hi robin, will post some pix later this evening. regards michael Quote
ole_slewfoot Posted February 21, 2008 Author Report Posted February 21, 2008 hi all, I've removed the radio and I'd like to test it with an external power-supply. - is the radio-chassis positiv or negativ grounded? - any idea, how much ampere it uses to run? (when in the car, at least the lights at the radio burns, but if I feed with external 6V nothing happens). thanks Quote
oldmopar Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 I would hook up the supply same as the car pos ground but Try this link http://oldmopar.com/p15/P15radioa.pdf Quote
Don Jordan Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Kudos to all you Plymouth lovers. I am constantly amazed at how much information flows through this forum. Even when I'm not really looking for something it shows up. It's hard to believe when someone has a question about a radio the answers are so in depth you could probably build a new radio from the posts. Some of you guys that let this information out like it was no big deal are a God send. I never realized how many klutzes, like me, are out there. You guys show so much patience and I am thankful. I don't mean to get mushy - I've started collecting web sites - I've got a folder that is beginning to cover everything from head lights to tail lights. Now if I just had a way to pay for it. d- Quote
ole_slewfoot Posted February 22, 2008 Author Report Posted February 22, 2008 thanks a lot. as don jordan said, I preciate your help too and like to thank ya all for those worthfull informations. Quote
Normspeed Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 I hear ya Don. I've learned so much from the folks here. Like you, I have a looseleaf of printed Mopar stuff and most of it came from this forum or links from the forum. Being a bunch of fanatics, it doesn't take much to get us all sharing our experiences, good, bad and ugggggly:D Add in the cameraderie and it's quite a group. Kudos to all you Plymouth lovers. Normspeed Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 Ole Slewfoot, that's a great p15. Is that some kind of vent in front of the driver door? Quote
oldmopar Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 Ole Slewfoot, that's a great p15. Is that some kind of vent in front of the driver door? Looks like it may hold a flag for parades Quote
ole_slewfoot Posted February 24, 2008 Author Report Posted February 24, 2008 yes, on the right front you can put a flag for whatever ;-) the car has been bought 1948 in switzerland and was driven by an lady until 1999. then she sold it to a young guy who intended to restore it but didn't have time. 2003 I bought the car from this guy. it's all original and the car is complete. unfortunately something must have hit the car on the roof at the driver side (maybe a tree?) and it has been fixed not too well. also the paint on the roof isn't that fine anymore. but something I like very well are the seats. they still are original (gray with the thin stripes) and never been used, because the original owner put a cover on them in 1948. ole_slewfoot Posted February 24, 2008 Author Report Posted February 24, 2008 exactly. unfortunately I don't know, when those have been installed. any idea, what kind of tund signal they have had originally? Quote
