greg g Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 A current ebay auction for a Job Rated 52 Half Ton 5 window Pick up shows this emblem. Is this an M 6 clunk o matic in a truck chassis???? If so how many were sold with this option. The interior pics show the three pedals associated with a standard tranny, and a column shifter. Unfortunately the engine shot is not clear as to if there is the wiring associated with the semi automatic on the carburetor. Looks like a nice solid truck, seller says was barn parked in 70 with 35K on the odo. So can anyone school us on the TRUCK O MATIC??? Quote
thedahmer Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 it is about 3 hours from the house-- I will bid on it and if I get it I will tell you-- Quote
greg g Posted December 1, 2006 Author Report Posted December 1, 2006 Good luck!!! Wish it were closer, I'd get it mechanically sound, give it a good bath, and interior detailing, and drive it like it like sits. Neat stuff!!! Quote
Merle Coggins Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 I don't know much about them, but from what I've read it is the M6 "Automatic" that was used in the Chryslers and DeSoto's. It came out in '53, which is what that truck is. I know he has it listed as a '52 but he's wrong. I saw the listing earlier. I have it in my "Watch" list. If I wasn't in the middle of my current truck project I'd probably jump in the bidding. That's the first one of those I've seen. Merle Quote
greg g Posted December 1, 2006 Author Report Posted December 1, 2006 Wasn't it available in the Dodge Car line about that time as the Gyro Matic??? Quote
thedahmer Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 except for the door rust it doesn't look tooo bad--- I asked for some pictures of the carb set up to see the Matic part of it-- would make a good shop truck!!!!! or maybe a good tow vehicle for the Found On Road Dead's that there are around here!! Guest Nelsons Ply Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Like Meril said it is a 53 I used one when I we to work at a plumbiing co. When I started using in 1957 is was worn out but just keep on going until 1963 Will make a great project. Quote

Good luck. It would be great to see it back in action. Looks like a bit of elbow grease and it would look presentable. Hope the stuck engine isn't as bad as mine was. Merle Quote
Reg Evans Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 I asked the seller some questions but haven't heard back from him yet. Looks like a 3/4 ton. Love the old door lettering. I wonder what W.G Hadden used it for? Quote
