teardrop puller Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 The other day I noticed a pin hole in the aluminum bypass thingie. I took it off to JB Weld the hole and as I cleaned, the aluminum just kept going away. Here is what I made from a 1/2 in T and some plate. The motor does not run yet so I do not know if it leaks or not, however I will bet it won't. sorry about the focus thing. just a photo of my carb/exhaust side. Tomorrow I hope to get pipes and the Smitties installed. kai Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Great idea ! I'll bet it works fine. Here's what mine looked like after the head gasket blew and I took it apart. Totally clogged shut whith what...I don't know. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Kai.....looks like some good old south-of-the-border ingenuity. Maybe you could build some more of those for sale to others with the same problem. Quote
Guest rockabillybassman Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Congrats on an ingenious repair. What's the angle iron in the lower left of centre in the pic of your engine? Your manifolds look nice, good looking liinkages too. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 By looking at the billet dip stick mounted to the firewall i would say Kai has done a bit of swapping in the tranny department Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Rear engine mounts also indicate a transmission swap. Quote
Brendan D25 Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Kai. looks like you done quite a bit of work, looks good. What master cylinder setup are you using? Thanks Brendan. Quote
teardrop puller Posted November 30, 2006 Author Report Posted November 30, 2006 rockabillybassman - The angle iron is for the motor mounts. They are those Chevy hockey puck kind. Never got the transmission in the jeep, so it ended up in the P18. Brendan D25 - The master cylinder is a early Corvette in front of a late model diesel hydro-boost, every one can make a vacume booster work, I like a little different. Since I was installing the Fatman rack and pinion kit, what the heck why not a hydro-boost kai Quote
