Joe Flanagan Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 Anyone have suggestions on where to get new leaf springs? I checked out Bernbaum's web site and he's got them for $175 each, and even though he looks like the cheapest, I'd rather not deal with him. Roberts, which I like, wants $500 for a pair, which seems really steep. Has anyone bought a set recently? Quote
Don Coatney Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 Joe; I bought new springs from ESPO. Here is the link. http://www.espo.com/ You should also check JC Whitney as I believe they are available there for a low price. Quote

Don, I guess I'm blind because I just checked that site out and saw everything, but leaf springs...unless they are under a different name. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 I just called Espo and they also go by "Springs n' Things." At least that's how they answer the phone. Leaf springs for a 49 Plymouth Special Deluxe: $290. Thanks for the info. Don. Quote

Joe Flanagan Posted January 15, 2008 Author Report Posted January 15, 2008 So I wound up taking Don Coatney's suggestion and going with Espo for my leaf springs. They should arrive within a week with all associated bushings, etc. I also got my rear shocks. I was hoping to get a second coat of paint on the underside of my car this weekend but the high is supposed to be in the low 30s. Still a bit of welding to do in the wheel well in the trunk, so I guess I could do that. It's also time to jack the body up off the frame to replace the body mounts. It's a three day weekend coming up and I'll be a bachelor. I love my wife but I'm looking forward to three days with Big Frances. Oh yeah, and my dog. Quote

I am happy with the springs I bought from them. I will be headed to Dulles in a couple of weeks. I will be there for about 3 weeks. Hopefully I will get a chance to see your progress first hand on this trip. Quote
Young Ed Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Joe Dad and I have put their springs in a couple cars and have been completely happy. You should be fine with the ones you ordered. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted January 15, 2008 Author Report Posted January 15, 2008 Don, Let me know when you'll be in town. Hopefully the weather will be halfway decent. I'm about 45 minutes or so from Dulles. Quote
Guest firstsigns Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Hello all, I'm trying to track down front leaf springs for my '50 B-2-C truck and am wondering if anyone along the way has found a source for these as well? I couldn't find them listed on ESPO- will car springs work? and what years? Thanks!! Quote
Young Ed Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Cars were IFS with coil springs in the 40s. You might find them close to some of the late 30s cars. I would think its pretty unlikely though. Quote
james curl Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Check for a front end shop for large trucks. They deal with leaf sprung front ends daily. Most can make new springs, re-arch, or reverse the spring eyes. You can usually find them in the yellow pages in larger cities or in smaller towns where they have a lot of trucks based there. Quote
Guest firstsigns Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Thank you- i'll check into that. My town is a small town...with lots of trucks. I'll ask around. Quote
