Noonan Posted March 13 Report Posted March 13 Need a bit of help here, finalizing the install of the knuckles on the 1940 coupe.. I am hoping someone knows whether the steering stop bolt on a 1940 knuckle was originally towards the rear of the knuckle or the front ? If I swap the knuckles from left to right it changes the placement of the steering stop bolt as well as the grease fitting locations. The main reason I am being fussy about this is so that when I start mocking up brake mounting plates I would like to have the knuckles installed as per the factory. My guess would be install the knuckles with the stop bolt toward the rear ? Quote
Solution Plymouthy Adams Posted March 14 Solution Report Posted March 14 (edited) this should be oriented to the rear.....as per the pics I have of my car when converting to disc brakes... Edited March 14 by Plymouthy Adams 1 Quote
andyd Posted March 14 Report Posted March 14 The steering stop bolt goes on the rear of the stub axle as Plymouthy has said.... on my Oz 1940 Dodge(essentially a 1940 Plymouth), I used the later, 41-54 style (used up to 1962 on the Oz Chrysler Royals) stub axles which again have the stop bolt at the rear.......andyd Quote
