Spuhn Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 I recently purchased a 1947 WC which has an alternator. I want to convert it back to 6V and have a generator but am trying to find the correct upper bracket. My truck has a straight upper bracket with a slot in it but I've seen photos of a more triangular shaped bracket with a slot in one portion of it. Which one is correct? Quote
Los_Control Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 I had a 1938 engine that had the triangular bracket with 2 bolts holding it to the water pump ... my 1949 has a straight bracket with only one bolt holding it to water pump. So they had both .... which year did they change? When I converted to a alternator, I modified the bottom bracket to work with the alternator .... the top bracket worked just fine as it was stock. Probably a good chance the bracket you have is also original and just works as is. ..... or not. Quote
Young Ed Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 I think the WCs use the triangle ones. I have some books at home I can check. Quote
Robert Harrison Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 Here is a photo of my bracket from my 47 half ton. I may have an extra if you need one. Bob Harrison Quote

Young Ed Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 My 41-47 book shows part number 622783 but there is no picture. The Canadian 40-47 Dodge and Fargo book shows the same part number and a picture of the straight bar style. I always thought the triangle one was the earlier version but my 36-48 Plymouth book pictures the straight style too. Quote
