Guest tagree01 Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 Hey guys, I just need to get a quick identification of what kind of stromberg carb this is. I need to get a rebuild kit and the model number is either worn off or obscured. My car is a '40 Dodge coupe. Ignore the arrows and numbers. Where is the best place to get a kit? Thanks guys. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 sorry...my 41-55 Motors section on Stromberg does not picture anything like this... Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 I have a couple of NOS Stromberg 1 bbl's. I'll check on the numbers tomorrow morn. Does the car have a gasoline powered heater in it? Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 OK..here's a NOS one marked for 39,40 and 41 Plymouth. The number shows on the box. I have another one meant for the flat 6 trucks 230 engine numbered BXVD-3. If interested make me an offer on either cause my 40 Plym and my truck are already purring like a swiss kittens....huh? Plymouthy Adams Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Good ID reg...my book mentions them in adjustment only..no photo's for ID... Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 The extra line going to the float bowl has not yet been identified. Is it for a gasoline heater? Quote
Furylee2 Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 I have the same line coming out of my carb on my 41 coupe. It goes to my SouthWind gas heater. I imagine that is the case here. Lee Quote
Guest tagree01 Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Exactly. It has a southwind heater. When I first got the car I drove it around the block a few times. After about 20 min the car started filling up with smoke, so I shut it down. I thought the smoke was coming from the engine compartment through a hole in the firewall, but turns out it was the heater. I'm not sure what exactly happened, but I know I'm not gonna use the heater any time soon! Thanks for the ID guys. Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Maybe there was a mouse or paper wasp nest inside the heater. PU ! Quote
Guest tagree01 Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Could be. I should investigate further. What scared me most is that I just got the car and hadn't yet bought a fire extinguisher for it. I was just taking it out for a quick shakedown run--just because I couldn't stand not to drive it. The car started filling up with smoke and I freaked. I had visions of watching the car burn to the ground and not being able to do anything about it. I hate feeling that helpless. It really taught me a lesson. Quote
Powerhouse Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 hey there...do ya still have the carb for sale? also how much ya want for it? just wonderin'. thanks. Quote
