I think there is some adjustment at the gauge.  think I've read that in some of Chrysler's literature.

The factory service manual says they can be adjusted, if not too far off, by bending the linkage that connects the Bourdon tube (the coiled up flat tube) with the needle.

Mine is fully intact, but completely out to lunch beyond adjustment. It seemed trustworthy in the winter, but during the summer it would pin out easy. No idea what's going on with it. But ive confirmed its defective. So i guess, just because it's intact doesn't mean it's any good.

Actually a little adjustment goes a long way. Because your adjusting it at the start or source of the needle movement, the result would be a more larger swing at the top of the needle. If say you adjust it .005" at the bottom it might result on a 1/8" at the top. I did that on an old gage once and had to bend it back after the first try as the needle move to far.
