Correct height of coil springs for P15 four door sedan

Hello, I am restoring a '48 P15 Sedan and need to ask  , what's the correct height for the coil springs ?

The ones taken off from the car are 14" high , are these correct or were originally higher?

Please advise.

The height sounds about right. The big issue is how high the car sat with the springs installed. Did it sit low or high? If it sat low the springs are probably tired and compressed. If it sat high, they are probably ok. Some people like to remove a coil from the spring to get the car to sit even or just a little low to improve the looks of the car.  

 

On this pic you can see how high my P-15 sits. I will probably cut one coil out of the spring to lower it about 2 inches. This should make the car have a more level look instead of the high sitting look it currently has. Hope this helps.

Also as the poster is in India..........was your car originally sold new in India?.........if so it may have had oversize wheels & tyres or a suspension set higher than what was original in North America.........andyd

I bought rear leaf springs from Andy Bernbaum, and saved a lot of money by using Ford Aerostar front coil spring.  My car sits level and as high as the spec sheet says.  I guess it could be lower front and back, but I have other problems to solve.
