DonaldSmith Posted June 13, 2023 Report Posted June 13, 2023 Happy Plodge! Welcome to this helpful and sometimes humourous group of car guys. You have a 1943 frame? U.S car production stopped from 1942 till 1946. Canada entered the War in 1939. When did they stop car production? Were a few cars assembled during the war for the military? Back then, I was too young to be aware of cars. Quote
jonnyrose Posted June 13, 2023 Author Report Posted June 13, 2023 The newer frames seem stronger mind mine is a bit rusty, there is on complete rolling chassis from a 1943 plymouth for sale locally, Quote
DonaldSmith Posted June 13, 2023 Report Posted June 13, 2023 Possible way for there to be a 1943 car: Some jurisdictions determined the year designation for a vehicle to be the year that the vehicle was first sold and registered. Production may have stopped some time ago, but here's your brand new 1943 car! Quote

andyd Posted June 14, 2023 Report Posted June 14, 2023 1941 to 1948 are essentially the same suspension parts, as others have mentioned last actual production was early, January/February 1942........upper A arms and lower A arms will bolt onto the 1941 spots with the included spindle between the A arms & attached stub axles & brakes, as for the swapping of the complete frame...........the 1941 frame has a large X member however the 1942 to 1948 does not have an X member at all and is what would be termed a "perimeter" frame with inner & outer side rails weled together whereas the 1936 to 1941 frames whilst still known as a perimeter frame have the large crossmember of varying designs and shapes from 1936-1941........in side profile the 1941 and 1942-48 frames appear similar and could possibly be swapped BUT it would entail a LOT of work as far as I am concerned but I suppose its possible..hey I stuck a 318 Poly & Auto in my 1940 Dodge back in 1973 so whats possible is only limited by your desire.......lol........, if the frame in this car is that bad, whats the floors & rockers etc like........the body appears quite complete including all the side chrome moldings but very weathered and missing a rear window which being curved maybe "fun" to find & replace...........Welcome aboard from Australia...........Andy Douglas 1 Quote
