rcl700
I'm looking for measurements of the stainless rocker trim for a 1948 deluxe. I'm missing them and need to know what I'm looking for. Also how do they mount / remove from the clips?
Bob Ritter
I think one size fits all, I took a rocker molding off of a 1948 Plymouth 4-sedan and used it on my convertible and it fit perfect. There should be 6 square holes in the rocker panel for the clips to fit into, on each end of the molding are mounted clips that take a nut. The molding are hard to find and are priced pretty high. Plymouthy Adams
Mine are not stock, cost me at swap meet 10.00 new clips were 15.00 kit that mounts both moldings...little tweak needed for the rear to mount same as factory rear clips...quick and easy. Mine are a bit more custom with a couple other embellishments from stuff lying about. Walk about an older yard or attend a show or two...you be amazed at what you can adapt... Where was your 48 manufactured? I'm wondering because I have a 46 (4-door) from Evansville, and a 49 1st series (2-door) from Detroit, and neither of them have holes for rocker molding clips. (The 46 definitely just has captured nuts for attaching the molding clips - I'm less sure about the 49, because it is stored out-of-state, at my brother's place.) This came up previously in another thread here, where a member showed pictures of the rectangular or square holes in his rocker. So just wondering if cars built in a different plant had a different design.
