YukonJack Posted March 25, 2023 Report Posted March 25, 2023 Rebuilt the Carter B&B carb on my 47 today. Everything went smooth until I screwed the top back on and turned it over and the throttle plate was stuck open. When I disconnect the link from the throttle shaft to the accelerator pump it closes normally. When I hook the link back up I have to hold the throttle shaft closed or it sticks open again. I've taken it apart a couple of times but can't figure out why it is hanging up. Any ideas? Quote
desoto1939 Posted March 25, 2023 Report Posted March 25, 2023 so it seems to me that there is an issue inthe linkage and it might not be correct. If the throttle plate closes completely when not connected then the issue is inthe linkage. rich Quote
Sniper Posted March 25, 2023 Report Posted March 25, 2023 Here's a link to the rebuild I did on my B&B, maybe it will help seeing how the linkage is setup on mine? http://www.yourolddad.com/carb-rebuild Quote
D35 Torpedo Posted March 25, 2023 Report Posted March 25, 2023 Pretty sure the accelerator spring will force the throttle open. Once the throttle linkage is installed, the return spring overcomes it. Quote
