Sam Buchanan Posted September 16, 2022 Report Posted September 16, 2022 I recently installed a new clutch in the P15, but the transmission is back out of the car to fix a leak. The new throw out bearing seemed a little rough and I could hear it when the clutch was depressed. Should a new bearing be slinging grease like this? The bearing came in the clutch kit I purchased from Bernbaum (oldmoparts.com). And....the new clutch isn't smooth in spite of the flywheel being faced. I'm wondering if there is something faulty with the pressure plate or disc or is it possible this bearing has slung some grease into the pressure plate? I've ordered a new National 1505 bearing, hopefully it will be better quality than this one. Quote
kencombs Posted September 16, 2022 Report Posted September 16, 2022 Bearing had the wrong grease in it for the factory, the proper grease won't do that. But I doubt there was any on the clutch disk, or at least enough to matter. I've had several clutches that needed some use to smooth out after an install. Quote

Loren Posted September 17, 2022 Report Posted September 17, 2022 When I put the Overdrive in my Coupe I changed the T.O. bearing too. I didn't like the fact that it made a sound. Kind if a rustling noise. When I got the new one in it had the same noise and now a bit of clutch chatter too. I am sorry but Plymouths if nothing else are quiet and that noise was unacceptable. So I found a NOS T.O. bearing with the sleeve on eBay and I figure that will be more Plymouth-like. So if our collective experience is any indicator, there is a problem with the aftermarket T.O. bearings. Quote
