Sam Buchanan Posted February 12, 2022 Report Posted February 12, 2022 You might just do a simple adjustment per the tech article in our archives. Once the car is rolling a more complete adjustment can be done. Hardly any of us have the fancy tools and we manage ok. ? Quote
Los_Control Posted February 12, 2022 Report Posted February 12, 2022 One thing I always have done in the past is bleed the brakes and get them to function. Using the hydraulic pressure to get the shoes seated in place. Then I would adjust them. My front shoes are pretty thin and will need replaced soon. I replaced the wheel cylinders and cleaned and got things in working condition. I had a rough time getting the drums back on as it was a tight fit. Even after I turned the adjusters in. I am ok with this, I know when I bleed them and get he brakes set in place from the pressure .... they will be to loose and need to adjust the brakes. I think it was even better to get the brakes working, then take it out for a drive around the block, get up to speed then do a panic stop. Stomp on that pedal hard. Now your shoes are set and time to adjust the brakes. I just feel any adjustment you do now will need to be redone later, get them close and call it a win ... then fine tune them after driving it. 1 Quote
